can i download the linux version of office on steam os and work it very well??

SteamOs IS linux, so whatever linux software you want to use, it will probably work. If it works on Ubuntu/Debian, it will surely work.

Libreoffice and OpenOffice work natively on Linux. Some verisons of Microsoft Office work under WINE. This assumes Ubuntu, but that's just a Debian fork as is SteamOS.

Google Docs/Microsoft Office Online work as they run in browser so they work fine.

Kingsoft (WPS) Office is a Chinese clone of Microsoft Office available for Linux.

I would advise to use LibreOffice instead. OO hasn't had much development since the fork while LO now has a proper community of contributers rather than one corperation.
