steamwebhelper is not responding
Hello!

Sorry this is my first time here so I wasn't sure what category to put this in.

I have been hit with the dreaded steamwebhelper is not responding. I have been looking online for fixes and I have not been able to fix it.

I have tried numerous things like installing the flatpack, installing directly from the website, rebooting my computer, killing the programme, running via terminal and nothing has fixed it. I cannot get into the app to mess with the interface settings.

Can anyone offer any advice? Or point me to something that might help?

Thank you!

Delete the flakpak version, delete the app downloaded from the website and install steam from your repository.
Since you haven't mentioned your distro of choice I can't provide help how to install from repository.

I recently started getting this as well. I am using MX Linux and only install from the repository; I don't use flatpaks, appimages or snaps.

steamwebhelper, a critical Steam component, is not responding. The Steam UI will not be usable. Click here for more information Something went wrong while displaying this content. Refresh Error Reference: Shared SteamUI_9338358_c6c82b63529e50ab Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'GetPlayer')

Sometimes I have to restart Steam multiple times for it to succeed.

When you uninstall-reinstall steam, don't forget to delete these too:

~/.local/share/Steam
~/.steam

and for some reason, rebooting before installing it again. It leaves some stuff lying around (in /tmp I assume) from time to time that causes steamwebhelper to choke. Haven't bothered figuring out what it is, but a quick reboot took care of that last bit.

buggy ass app.
