video encode disabled /Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Hey guys, im playing with cloud gaming and have some issues. the support from the cloud gaming tell me the video encoder is disabled. Is it possible to enable it on Ubuntu 24.04. Searching around and couldnt find something that works.
This is the problem:
Accelerated video encode has been disabled, either via blocklist, about:flags or the command line. Disabled Features: video_encode

i just have a low pc, but with cloud gaming it works (with some issues). I want to enable it, that would solve the problem i think.
my system: ubuntu 24.04 LTS (xubuntu)
intel i3 4150 3.5 GHZ
Mesa Intel HD 4400 HSW GT2
8GB RAM

Im not a pro at linux, doesnt understand some things around that. why i can watch videos and something with chrome for example if the encoder is desabled?

is it possible to enable it?

Do you mean games in your browser? Maybe turn hardware support on in its settings?

nah, i dont need it for the browser. i play with cloud gaming called boosteroid. the same like geforce now. people can play with browser or the app on pc. people are able to play games with steam and something. the cloud gaming support say to me my video encode is disabled. and its true. its not avaible for browser like chrome or on the system. im asking myself if i can enable it not only for browser. found something that can work on chrome. but i need it on the system, not only for browser. sorry for bad english ;D

You are running an old integrated intel GPU. vainfo says that video encoding is avaliable for the h.264 videocodec. The other codecs (MPEG2,VC1) listed are only supported for decoding. However for streaming a game from a cloudgaming service the hardwareencoding should not be needed. The video is encoded on the streaminghost (Boosteroid) and decoded on the streaming client (Your PC). So hardwaresupport from your GPU for videodecoding could be important.

In many cases hardware video encoding and decoding are not well supported by most apps on linux, so both tasks usually run through softwarencoders/decoders (CPU).
