DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine
When I try to run some games (this time it was Bloodstained: RotN), the "DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine" message appears and a game doesn't start. As far as I know, both my GPUs support named feature.
$ lspci -v | grep VGA | cut -d: -f3 Intel Corporation HD Graphics 5500 (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Opal XT [Radeon R7 M265] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
I have both mesa-vulkan-drivers and libgl1-mesa-dri installed, including i386 versions.
What can I do?

ok. you can try using wined3d which uses OpenGL instead of Vulkan

PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%

what OS are you using? you need to install the actual vulkan drivers, hold on let me get a link
I'm using Debian stable, so vulkan drivers really may be outdated.

Debian Bullseye (Debian 11) is supposed to release... tomorrow. :D
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianBullseye

But in general, I'd recommend using stable with the backports repository for gaming. That's what I do, too.

I've added the repo and updated libvulkan1 package, but nothing changed. The vkcube uses Intel GPU even when I say it to use Radeon:
$ DRI_PRIME=1 vkcube Selected GPU 0: Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 (Broadwell GT2), type: 1
But Intel 5500 has to support "feature 10.0" too. All info I've found says it supports up to 11.1 or 11.2, about 12 it's controversial.

also shows how to report your current AMD driver version
It's outdated. The last Debian release contained packages named *fglrx* was oldoldstable (jessie): https://packages.debian.org/fglrx

You really should wait for the next Debian stable, coming very soon. It likely solves your problems.

I'd update to the next Debian version, or find a repo with updated drivers.

Up to date GPU drivers is why I use Ubuntu over Debian.

try using older proton 5.0 to see if it loads
Yes, it works.

It's not an option. I use some packages from LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition), which is based on the current Debian stable. So I need to wait for the next LMDE release (in can be a few months).

Would buster-backports help? It's very good for Nvidia, not sure for AMD, though.

afaik LMDE does support using the backports channel...

look for a toggle in Mint's "Software Sources" app if you're using LMDE itself, not just some specific repo

BTW, I would like to solve this issue too. I'll appreciate any help.

Yes, backports repo is used by default. Its priority is lower, but one can manually select it for any specific package.

i have not had to reinstall the full OS since then.
I have similar pattern with Debian -> Debian+LMDE. Tried Ubuntu several times (in dual boot), but it didn't work for me. Mint was good, but it's a bit more memory-consuming comparing to Debian. People say it's easier to manage too. But I started using Debian 13 years ago (when I was 12). So I'm familiar enough with it. )
