If your goal is just playing games on your pc and do maybe standard stuff (browsing etc), just go for Mint between the two. Imo the easiest transition from Windows. It'll feel more familiar.

As for which distro is 'best'. That discussion is moot. Linux is just the kernel and the OS is just linux/gnu. You can use that to build whatever distribution you prefer. Thats why they exist. On purpose, because people have different preferences. There is no endgoal for a 'standard' best distro or something.

it would be the best if it was just based on Debian AND came with KDE. but thats not it. Manjaro KDE Minimal has been a go to for most windows user friendly, since its KDE. which is literally windows but not ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Cinnamon feels more Windows like than KDE's Plasma.

while linux gaming keeps improving at rapid pace, I'd recommend rolling distros (mostly arch based, I haven't used opensuse tumbleweed, so I don't know), because you will need all new features that all software, kernel and drivers offer as soon as possible.
probably in a couple of years you will be good with fixed release distros, but now I think rolling releases are better. so manjaro for gaming might be better than mint.

Why would you need all the new features as soon as they're available?

I've managed just fine even with LTS for gaming. I'm curious what people would need the latest features for (am I missing something?)

Mint, you can always change your Desktop Environment if you don't like what it ships with.

yeah no. the only aspect it feels more like Windows is the RAM usage, which is the BAD of windows

I am posting from KDE Neon right now. So, again, prove it.

KDE = flat W7
Cinnamon = crappier XP clone
GNOME 3/4 = Probably gonna be a future W11 update or 12 UI
So I guess it depends what exactly mean by Windows UI.

if you are saying Cinnamon is more like windows than KDE, then prove it, you prove how Cinnamon is more like windows than KDE. because it isn't something you explain in words. its something you EXPERIENCE and immediately understand, you IMMEDITELY understand how KDE is literally just the not ♥♥♥♥ version of windows

the only thing made up is your claim, grow up Twelve

The whole tribal behaviour surrounding distributions is dumb (for missing the point of distributions to begin with) and does not help the OP at all. Only a few of you even asked what the OP actually wants from their linux experience.

Generally, most people don't care about what OS they are using. They just want to play games or use software for whatever purpose. Preferably with no OS troubleshooting. You know, what a PC is intended for.

So if your experience with some linux distro is somehow trouble free, just mention it. No need to claim it is THE BEST (at what even?).

Again, you should be able to adhere to your own standards - or take them back.
