Best Kernel for Arch
So I've been thinking about going arch (again) on my main machine. I've tried it once, when i was newer and i used archfi and didn't understand everything i did when it comes to setting everything up
Now I've installed arch 2 times in a vm, no installer, pure terminal and quite like how simplistic it is and how much choice i get. (due to de's for example having no extensions, just pure gnome/kde/xfce)
But I've wondered which Kernel would be the best for Gaming, or desktop usage in general.
Especially about the Zen kernel, since I've read that it's been modified especially for high performance/gaming.
So are the performance losses that big when using Hardened and are the gains that big when using the Zen kernel?

Hope everything is understandable.

Edit: also one thing I don't quite understand;
when installing arch you pacstrap linux and linux-firmware.
But when looking up how to install zen, all websites say that i need linux-zen and linux-zen-headers.
when installing with zen, do i still need linux firmware or just base, linux zen and zen headers?
Thanks if anyone can answer me that

Selinux will make it so you can't play audio files on TF2 because most Selinux policies by default block execheap. I don't know if linux-hardened comes with Selinux. linux-hardened may block all execheap with no way to change it.
According to this video, the difference between Zen and Stock is small, but it is still there:

But the video is quite old so...

Simply use Garuda Linux, it's based on Arch, comes with the Zen-Kernel, has everything set up for gaming and you can switch kernels easy. Before Kernel 5.16 I've uses a TKG-Variant for Gaming, it squeezed out better frametimes.

I know of tf2s audio problems from my time on fedora. It's just a couple of terminal commands to fix, yet it's annoying.
I think if i switch to arch or artix, I'll try out Zen. Who doesn't like free fps? And it has fsync. Maybe comes in handy.
After some more research, hardened is security focused and can cause programms to break. I think I'll go with Zen.

In the future, you could have run pacstrap /mnt base linux-zen linux-zen-headers linux-firmware during the initial install.

I installed artixlinux with runit as an experiment in a vm and i just needed
basestrap /mnt linux-zen linux-firmware base base-devel
and all that other stuff. (instead of pacstrap, you use basestrap on artix, it's the same but with a different name)
I think IF i distrohop, instead of installing the 5th distro which is pretty much the same as the one before (except for a different package manager), I'll try out artix with xfce and runit
I've never "daily driven" xfce, nor anything which isn't systemd, nor did i use the Zen kernel, nor did i ever install arch the arch way on my real machine (when i used it i used archfi, artix is pretty much the same during installation, just a few minor changes due to the lack of systemd like enabling networkmanager)

Anyways thanks for the reply, but i already know how to do it :D

Edit: Luke smith made a really good tutorial on how to install artix with runit, i know he is controversial and such, yet it's a very good tutorial

I already am on Manjaro
It just uses stock kernel with some modifications because i dunno
I just think about going artix for trying out new stuff, and because everything comes stock. No extensions or pre-riced desktops. Just as the devs made everything
