Auto boot
Does anyone know how to make Steam automatically sign in when I turn my computer on? I'm using Linux Mint

Sorry, I must have worded my post poorly

I'm not looking to go into BPM. All I want is for Steam to open up automatically when I turn on my computer so I don't have to do it. It did it on Windows, it would open up and log me in automatically in the background, but it isn't doing it on Linux Mint

You simple check-box auto-login on computer start in your Steam settings.
On your first log-in request you check-box 'remember me' and that's it.
I'm on ArcoLinux/Manjaro/Solus OS and using it without any issue.

read the comments you could properly do sonthing like this

have my steambox setup much like the official steamos distro, with steamos-compositor from aur, this install a session and lightdm setup to autologin and start the steam session.

in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf:

[SeatDefaults]
autologin-user=steam
autologin-user-timeout=0
You should be able to do that if you paste the steam.desktop icon in /etc/xdg/autostart for all users or in your home folder /home/$USER/.config/autostart if only for you

Yeah I worded my first post incorrectly. When I open Steam it will automatically log me in, that part is fine. What I would also like Steam to do is open up automatically what I turn my computer on, rather than having to open it my self

The desktop environment of your choice could do that for you.

Yeah that's what I thought. I'm not sure why I can't figure it out though

Which desktop environment are you using? I could tell you for KDE, others will do it differently, some probably don't have an explicit option but rely on you adding something to a startup script.

Cinnamon

i dont know anything about cinnamon but like this https://winaero.com/manage-startup-apps-linux-mint/
In cinnamon it's in Settings > Startup Applications

But it comes back exactly to doing what I said in #5, the GUI graphical tool is just a helper, the method remains the same for all desktop that follows the specifications.

Cinnamon will create your startup app in /home/$USER/.config/autostart in a desktop file, so it is the same as copying the steam desktop file at the correct location

Well. Just make a login script. Don't bother with init tho. You can do it depending on your WM or DE. with Openbox you just have to add steam to autostart list in /etc/xdg/openbox/autostart.
Just write your steam launch commands.
