Nice to know the git repo.

And appear to be closed as the high resolution problem. Not my case, or the main issue

if you want smooth interaction with your applications regarding graphics then don't use Mate - it's not capable to redraw your screen in most efficient way. try to narrow your search and try something like Budgie, Xfce or any other lightweight equivalent to Mate to see it it has the same scrolling issue.

It's been a year and a half now with nothing? Well, hopfully this may be changed with the new UI update coming up, but we'll have to see.

maybe. but Mate itself can add to issues with desktop apps. Been there, had crawling redrawing speed on desktop windows and spikes in CPU usage for simple mouse move.

Maleko, i'm using compton (gpu usage for window manager). The problem is not the window manager. I tryed in VM with ubuntu, with the same problem

Well I can tell you right now, no. -or at least the beta does not address hyper-active scrolling. It's super annoying. Makes browsing for new games a chore, and makes my hand cramp up.

Does anyone else still experience this? If I two-finger scroll with my trackpad (I have a wireless HTPC keyboard in the living room), just a tiny gesture scrolls half the page. I have to tense up my hand to move in microscopic increments. Scrolling in Steam literally causes me pain. Steam is the only application on my computer with hyper sensitivity to scrolling.

"Steam is the only application on my computer that [...]" seems like an unfortunately common phrase...

Is this related to Steam Runtimes too? Like that UTF8 issue with steam chat, overlay and some games?

If it is, using steam with disabled runtimes just might help...

I've never heard of what you're referring to. After a Google search, I'm left more confused. Apparently there's two versions of Steam for Linux? Steam-runtime and steam-native? Is that right? I don't get it. I installed steam from Discovery on Kubuntu. How do I know which one I'm running, and how do I disable Steam runtimes?

I looked in Synaptic, and the only Steam packages are "steam-installer" and "steam:i386", and I have them both installed.
