Ubuntu 17.10 is getting quite solid in the past 2-4 weeks - with Gnome (Wayland or Xorg) or the Standard Ubuntu (Wayland or Xorg)
I mention this because and only because
1/ I believe it's awesome ...
2/ Wayland is supposed to be the new Xorg by bipassing a LOT of old intermediate steps! ...
though not quite mature enough for many apps or Optimus Laptops as af now but maturing fast. 2 years old NEW and lkely mature enough for Ubuntu's 18.04 LTR is MY Bet!
You might find an answer for that if you ask this on Stack Exchange (even though the question is ininteligible)
