Is Sparky Linux good for gaming?
Currently using : Mint MATE
Currently browsing (and thinking to install them) : Sparky and Steam OS

Good Advice Maleko ... As always!
Ubuntu 17.10 is getting quite solid in the past 2-4 weeks - with Gnome (Wayland or Xorg) or the Standard Ubuntu (Wayland or Xorg)
I mention this because and only because
1/ I believe it's awesome ... :steamhappy:
2/ Wayland is supposed to be the new Xorg by bipassing a LOT of old intermediate steps! ...

though not quite mature enough for many apps or Optimus Laptops as af now but maturing fast. 2 years old NEW and lkely mature enough for Ubuntu's 18.04 LTR is MY Bet! :steambored:

There isn't much difference between Linux distros in terms of being "good for gaming". Although having the latest kernel and graphics stack might yield a small benefit. Choose whichever distro you like, and the DE you like the most. Test them out in a VM or live environment.

SteamOS is meant for living room devices while Sparky and Mint are general purpose distros for desktops / laptops. SteamOS is based on Debian Stable but backports graphics drivers and uses a custom kernel. Sparky is based on Debian Testing. Linux Mint has a version based on Ubuntu LTS (which in turn is based on Debian) and a version based on Debian Testing (called LMDE).
Yesss
I have a strong feeling I am at the wrong place to find out what size of dado blade I use to make a three quarter inch dado cut on my table saw huh? Exactly how tall is Linux?

You might find an answer for that if you ask this on Stack Exchange (even though the question is ininteligible) :steammocking:
Steamos is not really ideal imo. The installation process isn't exact what I'd call noob friendly. Personally for gaming I use Ubuntu MATE 17.10, issues that arise are easily fixed and Valve works mainly with Ubuntu anyway. While installing CSGO I ran into some issues that were quite easily fixed. The first issue was sound, it was fixed by installing pavucontroll and routing the audio to the correct device. The second that's unrelated was screen tearing which was fixed by switching the window compositor to compiz. Overall my experience with Ubuntu has been great and not at all problematic.
