Maybe running Steam for Windows under WINE can do that?
good idea, i didn't know abot WINE before , if it doesnt work , maybe i can use it with IdleMaster for trading cards . THANK !
No sir , my pc has internet conection but i have raspberry pi as a seedbox as well.
the problem is when i want to download a big game like GTA V , i have to use my pc to download it overnight .
So i have an idea about using raspberry pi to download steam-games and bring it to pc to install it . ( TO LOWER MY ELECTRIC BILL )
Ohhh SteamCMD ! seems pretty much handy ,
i tried to google it in my language but found nothing .
i'll learn about it and if i success, i'll translate it to my language to others to read.
THANK !
So you need qemu to emulate x86 or https://eltechs.com/product/exagear-desktop/, because steamcmd is probably only available for x86.
Thank , i'll try to run steamcmd both with and without emulator .
The Raspberry Pi 1 sipped power... But it also was terrible performance wise. The Pi 1B was an improvement, but used more power. The Pi 2 was a massive improvement, but used a LOT more power. Now with the Pi 3, it's energy usage is approaching energy efficient Intel based laptops without coming close to that level of performance.
Furthermore, I think it's already been mentioned that Pi uses an ARM architecture, and is thus likely incompatible with anything Valve/Steam has to offer, such as steamcmd.
Emulation IS possible, but not desirable. Think about it. In order to use that steamcmd, you'll need to provide it with a fully functional x86 environment to work with, all emulated by a ARM cpu. This will push your pi literally to the limit, leaving little room to do what is actually intended (downloading steam games). Considering the pi only has 256/512/1024mb of memory to begin with, swap (SD-card swap) will almost certainly be involved, reducing your pi to the performance of a slug.
Anything is possible I suppose. But this really doesn't seem worth the effort. I would just spend the extra $0.0075 to $0.86 in electricity (depending on location) and download GTA V on your PC.
At least i've learn something even thoguh it doesn't worth it , right ?
But I've replaced my main desktop from a core i7-920 to an exynos 5422, and it was well worth it.
Xterms are faster than any ati-fglrx combination I had for years.
And it went from 250W idle to 2W idle.
Replacing my HD4890 with an R9-270 already removed 150W usage though... Replacing harddisks with a single SSD as bcache on fcoe also helped a little.
But GCN1.0 is not that well supported. So currently the old desktop is heating in the winter, in the summer it's only on if I need to convert video files for demos, which take a lot of time.
For steam I have a steam machine with steamos. I have not tried to measure that one.
Just 1 cheese burger ?? ahhh , all of my passion and motivation are gone . Now i trun my pi to Retropie ( retro-gaming machine ) to play with my wife instead . Thank for your advice. i'll go out , grab some cheese burger and say goodbye to SteamCMD.
