[Support] Generic USB Adapter (PS1/2) reporting as 4 Controllers when the configurator is enabled (Ubuntu 16.04)
Hi everyone! I have two machines running Steam, one is Windows 10 x64 and another is running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

I have a PS1/PS2 USB adapter (http://migre.me/wltRo) , to use with wired PlayStation controllers. This adapter works flawlessly with the configurator on Steam on Windows.

In Ubuntu, as soon I enable the option "Enable configuration of Generic Gamepads" and restart Steam, the USB adapter doesn't work anymore. Instead, when I go to "Controller Options" Steam shows 4 controllers/adapters, instead of one.

I want to know if there is a possible way to fix it.

Before someone say "Hey, buy a Steam/PS4/Xbox 360 controller" I already own each one of these! ;)

I just wan't to know how this could be possible solved in Ubuntu. :)

Some technical information:

* In Ubuntu, I'm using the oficial Steam OS Xpad drivers for Xbox 360 controller (https://launchpad.net/~mdeslaur/+archive/ubuntu/steamos)

* In Ubuntu I only installed the "joystick" package for testing purposes of the USB Joystick

Thanks in advance!

What is the VIP:PID of the usb device when you run the command 'lsusb' ?

The USB adapter should just be a simple USB HID device and not require any driver at all.

That it shows up as 4 devices leads me to believe that the device is programmed like most chinese garbage USB devices and is not conforming to the USB HID specification.

The linux kernel has native support for PS3 controllers, you can even use them wirelessly if you have bluetooth.

Hi ! Here are the output of my lsubsb :

Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0471:060d Philips (or NXP) Consumer Infrared Transceiver (SRM5100) Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0810:0003 Personal Communication Systems, Inc. PlayStation Gamepad Bus 001 Device 005: ID 05e3:0606 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub / D-Link DUB-H4 USB 2.0 Hub Bus 001 Device 004: ID 05e3:0606 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 Hub / D-Link DUB-H4 USB 2.0 Hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub Bus 001 Device 002: ID 045e:0291 Microsoft Corp. Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

The adapter in question is this one :

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0810:0003 Personal Communication Systems, Inc. PlayStation Gamepad

It's strange, that this behavior only happens when I activate the option on BPM.
In RetroArch for example, this doesn't happen at all.

Thanks in advance!
