How will you change your strats for Mello?

Mello will become the new instalock role for most players. It will be easy to get L and Kira follower now.

What gaslighting strats will you use to bait Mello into shooting or revealing L? Will you tell your follower to test out whose Mello for you at the expense of their own life? How will you get the lobby to distrust and yell at eachother to get Mello to reveal themselves?

Mello is his own team he will not reveal in meeting since he will be sent to jail if voted (he has a firearm) In Term of gameplay Mello goals aligns with the investigator during the Investigation phase but aligns with Kira in meetings.
What would be interesting is if Mello Kills are Hidden from team Kira til the meeting.
I do not what will happen if Mello arrest Kira.
But if Mello kills L. MELLO LOSES. Team Kira goal is to kill L Not Mello.
I also don't think Mello will get input to use his gun he will just need to highlight and kill so if you make it obvious your the follower Mello will just follow you and shoot the guy you pass a id to or he will just shoot you if you stand still for a bit.

The more I look at it the more I noticed that the new roles prevent aggressive Kira plays.
Like Mello for example if your too aggressive as Kira Mello will gun you down making you lose.
but then we have the more devious roles which are the NPA chief and Watari.
Let's start with Watari
He has a transciever with L
Everyone Knows Watari just died when he's killed
SO this means that Watari is both a threat when alive and dead.
When Alive he's a confirmed good guy that can lead the investigation in the meeting with L helping him out.
When dead there's a high chance that L knows who killed Watari or both of Team Kira if Watari Id is stolen.
Not only that You can threaten the follower as Watari since if they kill you, you know who team Kira is and by extension L And Everyone else will Believe L targetting someone that killed Watari. If Kept alive his id gone and that out the Follower and possibly Kira.

Just so your aware, L and Watari are probably going to have to be cautious with using the transceiver. It will most likely trigger the npc dialogue.

Not really as Watari can be confirmed in meetings sure it will balance it but Having Watari alive means team kira has to be careful with their id stealing. As watari is a active threat since anyone chasing them after stealing thier id could be watari who's relaying info to L.

In term of Gameplay you want to die as Watari but in a way that exposes team Kira if you catch team Kira in the act as Watari it's over for them now they need to hunt down L while L knows who Kira. So Kira has to be the one to steal the id and kill watari if the follower does it GG as L just need to cuff one of them and keep a eye on the other. (Assuming Watari is a good player)

The only thing we don't know is when The Watari is killed alert goes off is when Ryuk take possession or when Watari actually gets killed.

Since the room size won't change I think it will just make it easier for Kira to guess who L is if we can have both a confirmed investigator and Mello in the mix.

Games will be much shorter.
