Death note Pro tips.
As players get better at the game, they fake being investigators and L better, leaving only intrinsic mechanics as ways to carry and win games. In this article, I will explain several intrinsic mechanics.

L instrinsics
1. L cannot move while watching Cameras. So if you notice L watching you on cameras, it's important that you stop moving immediately so that Kira cannot eliminate you as an L suspect. It's also important that you don't watch cams for long, and that players don't see you standing still often.
2. People actually searching the vindicating evidence cannot withdraw the glass at the same frame as the proven investigator. So you should, sometimes, fake the vindicating evidence as an investigator to trick Kira into thinking you are L. It's important that when you do this, that everybody's spawns get confirmed so that L can possibly trade your death.
3. As investigator, you actually want to touch at least one person per round, not zero. This is because if L's ID gets stolen, the probability of them randomly getting killed drops to 1/2. So touching one player a round makes the game harder for Kira players who like to shoot dice.
4. Likewise, you should never do the surveilence task, ever. Not only are you getting rid of map info on a player that you can interrogate, but you are increasing investigator touch count to 2. By far the biggest reason L teams lose is because an investigator touched more than one player and their ID is missing. Thousands of games have been lost instantly because somebody wanted two investigation points. In terms of raw game theory, completing a surveil task on somebody is the worst decision possible.
5. L should not be touching players, ever. L should also only walk into corners under very rare circumstances. Ideally, L should be walking around map infinites faking tasks. The game theory on getting deep investigation info is worse than risking your life.
6. Although smoke testing players works wonders against new users, hiding evidence is much stronger against deadly kira players. In fact, you should fake sus onto a random letter if you know somebody hasn't passed to try and calm their nerves.
7. Unfortunately, the game theory is good on killing players who are simply bad. If somebody picked up a dying message and was slow to pass it. If a new player touched three players and their ID is missing, the best play is to kill is them. That player isn't going to help your team other than wasting a kill for Kira, and so it's safe to vote them out on a gamble that they are follower.
8. Trancievers. They are based on proximity. They are useless once three players walk within range of them. Good kiras don't use trancievers in the first 8 seconds of day or night, but if they do, you just say nothing and spam sus on the player. You can instantly win from trancievers, but it's rare to happen against good players. Not all NPC testimony is created equal, such as TV station whose actual testimony is completely and utterly worthless, but can be used to launder testimony.
9. Don't ever correct players who are clearly tards. This is because as L, you need to use tards to launder your sus. As L, you should be trying to catch players in lies every round, and then immediately sweeping your own evidence under the rug as useless. You should then cling onto clearly tard testimony to launder your actual sus. Unfortunately, the risk/reward on killing bad/slightly suspicious players is good because it at least throws away kira kills, so if you catch somebody with the dying message/lying/being wrong you should feel safe in getting them killed, while using somebody else's testimony.
10. Don't ever vote fast, and most importantly, you need to make sure other players don't vote fast in a round, whether you are L or investigator. Act like you are herding 80 IQ monkeys ever voting stage. There is no reason to vote fast ever, because L needs time to catch people lying, and L also needs throw sus onto other players if they are being sussed.
11. You cannot clear players, generally, on kills. There's a 12 or so second delay to people dying, and more importantly, your personal camera range is low, and Kira usually passes when the entire lobby gathers. The only true play in this situation is to ask to certified investigator to chase one of the possible players who isn't around to burn the clock or eliminate a suspect.
12. Spawnkills, Only Warehouse and police box have "Safe" spawnkill locations, but it requires kira to walk the body to the one location without cameras. So when garage player spawns they should always check downtown for the spawnkill. If there are noobs in your lobby, entrance player should also check teito hotel spawn every round, and then transition into checking police box.
13. If kira has killed two players, you need to ride directly on top him so you can watch the pass. The game is over. There is nothing else you should be doing then standing 1 inch away from Kira. If there's more than a foot of distance between you and a kira you know killed two criminals already, you are wrong.
14. For some reason, noobs struggle with touching 3-4 players a round. If you actually want to win as investigator, you need to only touch one player per round. This is more of a basic mechanic than something advanced, but enough players mess this up that it should be their primary concern.

Now for some Kira intrinsics.
1. Always pop kira task off spawn so vindicating can't be dropped in your face. This is always the best use of kira task. Then Kira chills in middle (vindicting spawns in corners) for the rest of the round. Kira should very rarely touch anybody, and follower should aim to take only 1 id in the first round.
2. Spawnkills. They can be done safely, but the body disposal cannot. The risk/reward is never worth it because you only have one kill for any witnesses and ultimately are just shooting dice on nobody seeing the death walk. Killing criminals in spawn is vulnerable to npc testimony so you aren't really snowballing. It should only be done if you enjoy crashing out.
3. AFAIK, npc testimony can be "clogged" with tranciever notifications. So although you should never use tranciever for the first 10 or so seconds of day/night, it's very good to use it after 10 seconds of day/night because it might block ID pass testimony. This isn't verified though.
4. Tell your follower to stand under camera when they don't have ids on them, as though they are about to whip out the death note. Then tell him to tranciever when the camera turns orange. Check whose standing still. This isn't exactly a subtle strategy, and it might cause L to spam your obvious follower if they know about this strat.
5. Keep bad investigators alive. You don't want L to have less suspects. The highest winrate strat is to kill a small number of survivors while killing lots of criminals. You want to pressure L into making mistakes and outing themselves. Crashing out is great in noob lobbies, but doesn't scale well if there's a handful of good investigators.
6. L's most likely time to out themselves is voting stage. There are intrinsics, such as in a tied vote, L will win the tiebreaker outing the players who could be L. In addition, if exactly six seconds pass, then L will assign themselves. Players used to suck at pretending to be L, but they have leveled up. L will assign a random player at 5 seconds to frame them as L and get them killed, and players will fake freudian slips as though they saw cameras. They leveled up from "bro I saw you on cams," to "I literally saw you pick up the body," while faking being L. As discussed before, L will also use dumb players to launder their actual sus.
7. Taking random kills and pressure is still a win condition and the largest source of actual kira wins. There's nothing complex to this: take ids when it's easy and safe, kill criminals when it's not. Don't take ids as kira, don't take ids in the last 45 seconds of the round, don't take ids when one of you is being sussed a lot. But if the weather is clear, take ids and kill people. You want to keep bad investigators alive while taking shots, but ultimately your primary win condition is always to isolate L while 5-6 players are still alive. Kira winrate drops substantially when player count drops below 5.
8. Killing collab is usually bad. You have to have investigator make sure there is no blob, make sure tranciever isn't timed, and make sure you aren't followed. People confuse the ease of killing criminals with the much riskier killing of collab. This is usually only an issue in servers where L is given a point advantage, but the proper counter play is to eat your veggies of 5 criminals a round so that you don't have to care about L progress.
9. Kira movement. Outside of avoiding touching players and avoiding using tranciever in the first 10 seconds of day/night, you need to be aware of four common kira movement mistakes;
a. The camera is angled down. All players can see above them further than below. So know their is a possible blindspot where witnesses can see you.
b. Your sillhoute shows when you walk into a doorway. There's also a small variety of glitches where some walls can be seen through. So you need to make sure that you have a few seconds and feet of distance into a room when you kill a criminal. You need to recheck outside every time you kill a criminal, or have your follower watch for you.
c. Survivors get surveil tasks on you. Good players know exactly what doorway criminal killings look like. Don't walk all the way to NPC when you are killing crims, but walk in their direction so you have some plausible deniability.
d. When a good L sees your follower pick up the dying message, expect them to get voted. Make sure they don't take any ids after passing a dying message.
10. Death note passes. You are way better off gaslighting somebody than trying to pass the death note. The thing glows red and has awful frames. For every clean Deathnote pass in noob lobbies, there's 10 humiliating defeats. If you are getting grilled hard as kira, prepare some gaslighting for your follower. Say you saw x with the deathnote. In the worst case scenario, you have to order your follower to steal 3-4 ids with no pass so that you have one more round to kill L.
