Team L has a huge advantage when the police chief and Watari is released

If everyone is alive during the first meeting, the police chief can say they are the police chief and they cannot be impersonated if no one is dead and they don’t need to use their emergency meeting to prove themselves.

If Kira or Mello claim to be the police chief, the real police chief will call them out, use the emergency meeting next morning, and vote out the fake police chief.

If the real police chief is dead, team L can request for the fake police chief to call the emergency meeting next morning, if they can’t, then they are fake and voted out.

For Watari, they can say they are Watari in the meeting and L can use the meeting guidance to confirm that player’s identity.

Together with Vindicating Evidence, there can be three “confirmed” investigators in the meeting which is very disadvantageous for team Kira.

If Kira tries to steal Watari’s ID, Watari will tell L through the transceiver.

If Kira tries to steal the police chief ID (if they didn’t call the emergency meeting), the chief can just stay around other people and tell who touched them or use their emergency meeting immediately after being touched.

Basically, team Kira needs to play very aggressively because they could face up to three confirmed investigators in the meeting.

Normalize random roles, also near won’t have vindicating, also, there is a chance watari and police chief will not be able to be in the game at once. It’s like L and Near.

NPA chief is a risk though once revealed and start the meeting you are expose and as such Kira can kill you akin to losing your id. So it best to use the meeting to get Kira not the follower or mello.

3 revealed investigators during the meeting would narrow down L quite a lot for the Kiras. If the roles are still too powerful, it can probably be balanced by changing other settings. "Everyone has black notebooks" is an obvious one, which would reduce the potential problem of the NRA chief being able to end the game instantly if he ever spots Kira writing in the book.

Random roles don't really work as long as the investigators can still see how many regular investigators there are.

People are trying out giving Kira one input to kill a criminal and 8 criminals a day at 0.8 points or something to that effect. But really it will come down to if Mello hides their role or not.

Game doesn't actually reveal how many investigator there is if roles are set to random just the total possible amount of Investigator. so if mello is set to random there will be 6 investigators in the background of the investigator role screen

Unless they got caught near Vindicating Evidence and unable to prove themsleves there is no reason to claim they are a role they aren't.

The reason someone would claim they are L or another role would be if they are being cornered in a meeting. Which would mean that yes, the NPA chief can call the meeting the next morning, but that still gives Kira another chance to attack. I don't think it's going to be without a risk.

Remember, Mello is also a risky role because if they don't act like a normal investgator they can be arrested and have his gun confiscated which leaves team L a bit vulnerable yo aggresive Kiras who get too close.

Yes, Watari and NPA chief are coming, but remember that Kira must act undercover, blend with the rest of investigators and kill secretly. Watari and NPA Chief might be part if team L, but we still don't know how they totally work. We didn't know that Mello arresting Kira would not confiscate the Death Note. So who knows? Maybe there is a huge risk to reveal yourself as NPA or Watari.

The thing that many Kiras fail to realize is that killing criminals early on the day can snowball into their favor because that's less progress for team L by denying interrogations and team Kira gets progress, that along with Kira tasks then you can get a headstart as team Kira.l, because nobody wants to do the Death Note Test or the Video Message. Again, by killing NPCs early on you can snowball towards team Kira, and if your progress bar is high ebough you can put some preassure on the investigators.And usually you get a Kira command card per 10 points which is enough from a Kira command card itself.

The way I see it is that yes the new roles give Team L a big boost. At the same time they're a double-edged sword because if Watari and NPA Chief are revealed to the entire lobby then that narrows down who L could be for Kira, and they set themselves as a potential target.

The same is for Mello and hopefully this update will make players rely less on, and stop treating Mello as an investigator with a gun and actually an unpredictable threat to both teams.

So with the new investigator roles there is more at stake. If Team L loses both Watari and NPA Chief, or their role is revealed to everyone, then he could be in trouble.

As Kira you will want to keep track of the New World Progress and I can't stress it enough. Make sure to rise it early in the match as this puts pressure on the investigators to get tasks done and force them to focus on Kira tasks. If they don't, Kira can easily spam command cards and win through progress this way.

Of course if the investigators have a really good L. He may be able to use it to his benefit too.

TLDR: The new investigator roles help Team L, but they also benefit Team Kira if they play smart. It forces Kira to hide and kill criminals to put pressure on team L and lure them into a trap. Having a confirmed Watari and NPA Chief to the entire lobby also benefits Kira. The new roles alongside Mello open up strategic opportunities for both teams.

Yeah, exactly! In fact, having only 4 investigators who can now use vindicating evidence may be actually useful towards Kira, because the NPA Chief, Watari and L may start accussing each other for making a fake vindicating task. It's all about risk reward.

If they have to reveal their role to clear themselves from vindicating evidence then that gives Kira more information to work with.

Mello can't reveal himself, neither Watari, nor L, nor NPA chief. So Kira can play mind games to make the investigation team attack each other.
