I knew to keep the coupon before even receiving it, but I still managed to burn the coupon by accidentally dragging it onto the screen, and I don't believe one can get an item back once it's out of the inventory.

Yes if you keep the free hug token you get a free hug when you see Miss Nancy at the top of the Tomorrow Corporation Tower.
