I'll put it like this. Imagine playing timed asymmetric chess where the other players all have totally different pieces from you, and nobody explains how any pieces work, including your own and you get 30 seconds to make a move. Sure, you can eventually work it out through trial and error and reading wikis and getting cheeked constantly by the 200 people who haven't stopped playing since launch day. At least if you grind speed chess you can play against people your own elo. Here you just play against 1k hour sweats since they're the only ones who still play the game.

Finding matches in this game is truly cancer. First off, you join a server without mods, which is maybe one of them. Then you have to challenge someone. Is that person AFK? Dunno. You are forced to sit there and wait for them to either respond or you cancel the invite. If you do find a match, you have no idea if this person is on your level or a tournament player, so it's incredibly difficult to gauge what to expect out of your opponent.

What's more, the UI is dogwater. There's so much garbage on the screen, and yet somehow so little information is conveyed.

Since there's no reading animations or mechanical skill whatsoever, imo, fighting games are reduced to their worst foundational component: blindly "predicting" a series of 50/50s.

Once you've slugged though memorizing a bunch of poorly conveyed esoteric information to actually be able to play the game properly, you realize that the vast majority of interactions just come down to "Do I arbitrarily choose to hit or dodge or block?" If you guess right, you get to combo, if you don't, you get combo'd for 5 minutes. There's no skill in guessing this. There's knowledge, sure, but that's just memorizing game information about what abilities do what. Once you know what the attacks can do and how they interact, it's literally just a roulette wheel spin. Maybe if you played the same person a ton you would start to get a read on their habits, but I don't think I've ever played the same person more than once in this game.

It's just the scene from the princess bride about guessing which cup the poison is in. You can sit there and twist yourself into a knot trying to out-out-out-out-out think the other person, but ultimately there is no way to know. You can sit there and trick yourself into thinking that you're smart for guessing right, but really, you guessed.

Waste of my money.

I played this game with my cousin for the first time. he let me win the first time to bring my hopes up then proceeded to kick my ass the next. overall a terrible experience

robot is not fair

I do not understand this game at all, probably due to the lack of UI clarity and tutorial. It is just not for me, but it is cheap and a lot of people love it, so it definitely has its audience.

whatever update released recently completely destroyed the steam workshop side of this game, will change review to positive whenever it is fixed

Matches are to long, unlike many may think with the turn base combat and system mechanics like DI YOMI.H ends up being way harder to get in than a normal fighting with simple inputs game like Street Fighter 6 or Granblue Rising.

graphics aren't the best so you are stuck for 10-15 minutes looking at nothing to get a cool stick fight at the end.

add back gravity field and the base game would be better
