Singleplayer mode
The store page says there's singleplayer in this game, but I haven't found it. The 'singleplayer' option just appears to be a 2 player hotseat match. What gives? Am I missing something obvious?

The obvious thing you are missing is that there is not a singleplayer mode

That is the single player. You practice/make a cool fight scene.

The store page literally says "Singleplayer".

I can use an animation program for that. Not what I'm looking for in a fighting game.

...so essentially you guys are telling me this is false advertising?

"Enter singleplayer mode to see a suite of features built around crafting cinematic, superhuman fight replays, and share them with your friends." is what the store page says about single player so no not false advertising.

nice bait

The advertising isn't false, you just misread it. It's like how "prepared fresh" refers solely to the way that Subway puts the sandwich together at the counter and not the freshness of the ingredients (but more intellectually honest, as they go out of their way to explain what they really meant).
My mistake. Was hoping for a singleplayer experience.

Might give it another try if it's ever added, but until then it's refund time.

its a shame... did you actually give the game a try/chance? Against other people? Even if PvP isnt "your thing" just pretend its a really smart AI.
I don't really like a lot of non-hotseat multiplayer games. If I can't play on the same couch as someone I usually avoid the multiplayer.

Considering the huge lack of tutorials and the very complex controls, it's not exactly a welcoming experience, either.

I'm sure, like most steam games, it will get more polish/features and I can come check it out then.
I don't think singleplayer is possible with this game. It's based on the concept of yomi (read: YOMI Hustle) and while it is exactly what you do to absolutely meme on the AI in FGs, AI is kind of incapable of yomi. It is capable of reading inputs, but that's what everyone can do in this game. Near perfect frame 1 reactions go.

So yeah. Tough luck.

Though I hope you'll find something more suitable
I ended up getting a strategy game instead, but I will be keeping an eye on this. If it gets a good foundation for teaching new players and a singleplayer mode to ease people into the fundamentals of online, it will definitely be up my alley.

The concept for the game is really cool, and I hope it keeps getting better with time!

Try playing with someone else that is new to the game it is pretty fun to start with someone and then after matches you will learn by yourself
Again, not interested in multiplayer. Also, none of my friends would be interested in a game like this.

it's not going to get a singleplayer, it's just not really doable for it as someone else already explained.
How is it not doable? The game seems to keep very close track of states and frame data. Automating actions for a second player seems relatively simple if a logic tree for behaviors can be created.

Then again, I don't really know who "someone else" is, can you link me to that post?
