grabs not working

i'm not sure if this is just happening to me, but for some reason, whenever i use a move that is supposed to hold the opponent in place for a moment before launching them, it just completely misses even if the opponent is RIGHT THERE
the vanilla moves that do this are all throws, Cowboy's lasso (literally freezes the opponent in place with invulnerability??), Robot's COMMAND GRAB and KILL PROCESS, and Mutant's Envenom. for some reason, Robot's OVERDRIVE, which is also kind of a grab, still works, and same with Ninja's sticky bomb grab thing.
i have no idea why this is happening, please help

Yeah you're not the only one, I don't know how to fix it.

if you have only optimized moves installed that would be a extremely likely culprit. otherwise *shrugs*
