Looking for similar games?
I've been looking for more PC horror games on a similar level after playing Penumbra and Amnesia. Any suggestions?

I've asked the same question to myself after playing Penumbra. Answer depends on what you like in this games. I did't find any game exactly like Penumbra or Amnesy with same quality and atmosphere. But there are action games full of suspense: Dead Space, Doom 3, Fear, Silent Hill 4, Resident Evil, Dead Island etc. If you prefer survival horror games try Anna, Fatal Frame, Erie, Escape the Bunker: 1944, SCP 087, One Late Night, Fibrillation, Spectre, The Corridor. Finally, you may like horror mods for games like Half-Life (Zombie Panic) and Stalker, or creepy maps for Gmod.
SCP Containment Breach is a wild ride, lol. You need to be a bit familiar with the SCP website to appreciate it really, though.

Condemned is very good. There's a game on Greenlight called Eleusis that I purchased through an indie bundle but isn't on Steam yet - it's quite a nice little horror tale. Scratches is scary as hell. Darkness Within, Darkness Within 2 are near the top of my list too. Siren on PS2. All of the Fatal Frame games are unbelievably terrifying and disturbing. System Shock 2 is unnerving. Silent Hill 2 is one of the best ones as well.
Oh and Cryostasis. Forgot that one.

I agree with the games mentioned above, not that I thought they all felt like Penumbra, still it's some quality horror games that was mentioned, played most of them, rest is on my list.
I too will recommend Darkness Within 1 and 2, they are heavily Lovecraft inspired. In terms of gameplay and atmosphere I thought they felt similar to the Penumbra series, also you do not have a weapon in either of them to defend yourself with.
I will also highly recommend Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, if you enjoyed Penumbra. The whole atmosphere is dreadful right from the start, like Penumbra it's easy to catch the "uneasy feeling" of something watching hidden within the darkness, this is one of the games that loves to creep under the player's skin to stay with you for centuries to come. Like DW 1 and 2, this is a Lovecraft game, it's based on Lovecraft's book "The Shadow Over Innsmouth.". Feel free to check my website (link at my profile), got a few recommendations so far, more will be written when I get the time. :witch:

Yeah, Cryostasis might actually be our best bet here. Great atmosphere and gameplay, DEEP story. It has some sweet puzzles too, especially when you travel back in time through someone's (or something's :D) corpse to save their life or change something about the present.

I've been looking for 3 years now and haven't found anything that will satisfied me better than penumbra and amnesia I always come back to them... there is outlast but still... it is not as deep as TDD (and for AMFP... It has nothing to do with amnesia should be call AMFP only).
I got 2 horrors game on my 1st position (SH2 and Amnesia TDD).
p.s. there is doorways and haunted memories you can try but still...and the slender remake
but never as deep...

There are a lot of mods for Amnesia, including the unofficial sequell of Penumbra made by fans. I didn't explore them well but it seems some of them are ready to play and well-designed. You may look at them here: http://www.moddb.com/games/amnesia-the-dark-descent/mods

Outlast could be a good match too... The story is a littles less complex but still interesting. Much more gory to !

Thief: The Dark Project! (aka Thief Gold) Many of the levels have extremely eerie atmosphere and sounds, and terrifyingly paranormal enemies. The stealth is also much deeper than Penumbra and Amnesia, which makes the horror situations feel more realistic.
