the game will not open

ive played through the penumbra : black plague and wanted to try out the other titles since i had bought the bundle but once i tried to open any of the other titles nothing happens none of the 3 expasions i have work and its very upsetting concidering i just played 2 days ago........ please fix this none sence i have reinstalled the game 5 times

Are you playing on macs? I am having the same issue and don't know what to do. Hopefully support can offer some advice

I bought all three in the bundle on a Mac and none of them will open. The icon will start jumping in the dock showing it's loading, the screen goes black, and goes back to the desktop. What's interesting is I can't quit Steam because Penumbra is "still running" but I can't see it in my dock. So the only way for me to quit Steam is to restart my Mac.

Playing on windows 7 same thing I can't even enter the game. It just crashes before I can even start playing.

Guys after looking through a ton of threads I have found a solution that got it to work for me on Win 7 64bit.

Go to the files (default will be c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Penumbra Overture)

You will see a file called oalinst. Open and install it and then run the game.

This worked for me :) Hope it works for you.

dude it works for me now just download the game on a pc and go back to your mac and then play the game it worked for me

no dont use a usb just download it on a pc and play for a while and then download overture or requiam and then go on mac and then it should work

so I have this issue with a small number of other games, planescape torment remaster being one of them. installing openal over and over was never the solution there but grabbing openal_soft from the most official source and putting openal32.dll along side penumbra.exe but instead of fixing my game instantly closing issue it produces a new one which says check your openal installation. now I am stuck

update - can confirm the above fixed works for overture but this game produces the error "Failed! check your openal installation" which leads to a bunch of linux threads talking about installing missing libs but I am on windows so :( my only guess is to install a bunch of different sound drivers or maybe even my video drivers but screw that when 99.9% of my other games work fine
