Examination room chemical mixing is bugged for me

For the chemical puzzle, I've found and inserted all chemicals, I did this quite a long time before getting the tube. But now when the tube is there it still says there's insufficient chemicals.
I have tried reloading my previous save from before I got the tube in the chemical lab, but to no avail, the bug is still there. Are there any solutions to this?

So, have you been able to solve this problem? I'm also going through the game now and didn't know this nuance. I think the developers should have done that until you find a sequence, you can't use substances.

I have not played the game again since, but I heard somewhere that the bug seem to occur if you go and play around in the lab before doing the quest to find the chemicals. So if you reach the lab, just don't touch any machinery and leave until you have a reason to be there.
