All aboard! Unrailed 2’s Open Beta is on track for the 20th at 12pm CEST until 23rd September 2024 12pm CEST!

With this Open Beta weekend, you’ll get a sneak peek at what to expect for an off-the-rails adventure when Unrailed 2 launches in Early Access later this year.

Play solo or alongside three other players and trek across 2 of the game’s unique and perilous biomes. Gather resources and craft tracks to reach the next station, being careful not to get derailed by challenges along the way.

During the Free Weekend you’ll get a first look at some of the bosses, a brand-new addition to Unrailed 2, along with brand-new character and locomotive customisation options available within the full game.

When will the Open Beta be available?

From Friday 20th - Monday 23rd September 2024 launching around 11am BST / 12pm CEST / 6am EDT / 3am PDT / 6pm CST / 7pm JST and closing at the same time on Monday 23rd.

How many players does Unrailed 2’s Open Beta support?

4 players

How can I play with a friend?

Once you’re in the main hub go to ‘Play’ > ‘New Game’ and press the ‘Go Online’ button. Your friends can then join either via Steam or by entering the Session ID under ‘Play’ > ‘Join Game’ > ‘Join by Session ID’.

How can I invite a friend to the beta and participate in the key giveaway?

Press the Key Giveaway button in-game and send your invite link to a friend. Once they have accepted the invite, you can post your link in ⁠friend-codes to participate in the giveaway.

How can I report any bugs?

The best way to report bugs to us is through our Discord in the 'beta-bugs' channel or in the Steam forum.

Am I allowed to stream the Open Beta?

Yes!

Will my progress carry on to the full game?

We try to keep the save files compatible but we can’t promise it!

Is the Terrain Conductor mode available in the Open Beta?

We’re currently working to make the Terrain Conductor mode the best it can be and will not be available during the Open Beta. Our aim is for it to arrive during Early Access.

Can I use a controller?

Yes! Unrailed 2 is playable with a controller, or mouse and keyboard.

What languages is the Unrailed 2 Open Beta available in?

English, German and French, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese.

Can I play on Steam Deck?

Yes, the Open Beta runs on Steam Deck. And since we support Proton, it should also run on many Linux systems!

Do you have some tips on how to get started?

Sure, here you go:

• If you can, play the game with a group of friends, that is what brings out the chaos at the heart of Unrailed!
  
• The path-map in each station allows you to choose where to head next and gives you information on what to expect. Start with easy levels and work your way up. Harder levels offer better loot and are a true test of your cooperation skills!
  
• Try adding different extensions to different wagons - it takes some time to find a train setup that fits your playstyle.
  
• Try to think about the role of each team member and equip cartridges accordingly.
  
• If you are looking for a description on how certain wagons, cartridges or other things work, check out the handbook via ESC-Menu > Handbook.

Can I save my run?

Saving is unfortunately not available yet, but we're working with full speed!

My game is not starting or running very slow, what can I do?

Your specs might be too low but you can try starting the game with a different rendering method.
For that, right click on the title in your Steam library, then properties > general and then under launch options write: --rendering-method mobile

Can I play the beta on Linux?

There is no native Linux build yet, but it should work using proton. For that, right click on the title in your Steam library, then properties > Compatibility.

What will be difference between the beta and the early access build?

When can I buy Unrailed 2?

Will Unrailed 2 be coming to consoles?

We’re currently focusing on bringing Unrailed 2 to Steam for Early Access, and then looking into consoles later on. Keep a look our on our social channels for future announcements :)
