Just take a look at the negative responses and see who is spreading negativity about the game.
2 trolls, pepik and doomjesus who is a known troll in other game forums in the Steam Community and Drain who is a masochist apparently as he played a game he loathes for 40+ hrs.
Let's take a look at his rant shall we? 1st paragraph starts with him telling you that if you think that re6 is a good game then you must be stupid (such incredible display of intellect), then out of the blue he switches to politics because the discussion seemed of political nature to him (wait what) or the Re6 forums are filled with political discussions (not).
Having said the "if u like this game you're stupid" gem in the 1st paragraph he then proceeds to say that he "really" enjoys playing it right at the start of the 2nd paragraph. So we have 2 possibilties: a) He "really" enjoys the game hence he likes it and therefore he himself is stupid based on his words or b) He somehow found a way to enjoy a game that he doesn't like, a process that doesn't suggest a mentally sane individual.
Disregarding the rumblings of someone who seems to suffer from cognitive dissonance you can strip down his wall of text to two basic arguments: i) the game has too many cutscenes and ii) it's too much like cod all you do is shoot.
For argument i) that is entirely subjective. While it is true that it has many cutscenes the pacing is well structured and i didn't find the need to skip them in my 1st playthrough. In the 2nd+ playthrough you can always skip them. If u had a problem with cutscenes in this game then by god don't touch Max Payne 3 where there is a cutscene every 2 minutes (not exaggerating) and more importantly they can't be skipped.
Now for argument ii) this shows that he played the whole game wrong. The game is combat based this time arround as there are very few puzzles BUT the combat system itself is based arround precision, evasion, timing and observation. For every enemy you have to find his weak spot (observe), then shoot it (it's usually a small area hence precision), evade attacks while doing so (evasion) then counter (timing). In CoD you need to have map awareness, reflexes and a fast internet connection. That's why it's so popular, it's not demanding, it's fast and it's easy to pick up and play. That's it and that is coming from someone who is quite decent at that game.
The combat system utilized in Re6 is far more advanced than most third person shooters out there and the only other title that springs to mind when i think of tactical and deep combat systems in third person shooters this gen is Platinum's Vanquish. If u play this game like CoD you are doing it wrong. It's like having a ferrari and driving it like a datsun or smthng. The people that played this like CoD were the same ones that complained about lack of ammo etc. So to recap, while it is possible to progress in the game if you playing this as a standard tps it is not meant to be played like that.
Tl;dr: It's the Internet. Don't take anything to heart, if the comment is abusive report it and move on.
But I can say that you missed a lot of my points. You apparently can't tell the difference between all the campaigns; which is a problem. Let me explain it to you. RE4=good. RE5=good. Leon in RE6=good. Chris in RE6=FU CK THIS. Get it now? I also complained about the story...
One being that it was deliberately created to be everything that fans hated about RE5. 5 got criticized for being too action oriented and lacking any horror, but it also sold the best out of the entire series. Capcom decided money was more important than pleasing their fans and exaggerated the action elements even more.
They knew their fanbase would hate this; one developer said in an interview that they were trying to push the balance towards more action without alienating their longtime fans. Basically, "how much can we piss you off while still getting your money?"
Second, most of the new gameplay mechanics are bafflingly terrible decisions. Ammo was purposefully limited in the old games because they were based on survival, and ammo was plentiful in 4 and 5 because they were action games with a lot more shooting.
6 for some reason thought it could go back to limited ammo while throwing more enemies at the player than ever. What's the point of turning the series into a third person shooter if you can't even shoot? I had to melee several bosses, and I was always careful about conserving ammo. It's not scary or tense to constantly face swarms of enemies without being able to shoot, it's just annoying.
Then you've got the health system that forces you to mix herbs together, convert them into tablets, put them into a case, and then press the heal button over and over to refill health. Why? Did Capcom think that making things arbitrarily tedious would enhance the tension of the game?
Quick time events have lost all meaning. They felt fresh in RE4 because they matched the action onscreen; having a knife fight with Krauser was a great opportunity for split second reactions and dodges. This game forces you to do a QTE sequence to find the keys in a car. Why? There is no logical connection between split second reactions and searching for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ key chain.
Jake's campaign had the purest concentration of everything that makes this game suck. His action star persona is far too generic for the RE universe and he seems entirely designed to pander to FPS fans. Most of his QTEs were ripped form other games; the snowmobile section just made me think of MW2, only the snowmobiles were actually fun to drive in that game.
The helicopter fight in China was utterly pointless; why make me fight the same helicopter I did in Chris' campaign, only this time from the streets, where I can't see it or shoot it, and where I don't even have the challenge of it shooting back at me? It's one thing to wedge a bunch of action sequences in, but half of these sequences are completely devoid of action. It's just tedious torture.
Ustanak could have offered some nostalgia value to RE3 fans by recalling the Nemesis fights, but you hardly even fight him; it's always a bunch of QTE sequences when he appears. There's no dread about him stalking you, no concern that he might pop out at any moment.
I could go on and on, but that's already a giant rant. The game basically feels like Capcom sold their souls to get as many sales as possible. It's a big unfocused wreck that tries its best to ape every popular action game, as if it's desperate to become anything other than Resident Evil. Why Capcom didn't just start a new IP if they wanted an action shooter so bad is beyond me.
Then you will know the level of quality that fans (used to) expect from a resident evil title.
Although RE 6 is a good game simply is not worthy of the series reputation.
RE2 is also great, but it doesnt have the amazing graphics or atomosfear of the remake - it still have some brilliant background music and great character development
To say old Resident Evil, with all of it's flaw's, is better than the newer iterations is nothing more than your opinion. People forget that.
I have completed PS3 RE6 version in normal and HAD replaying PC version in veteren and concluded below:
1. Too many QTEs
Some of the QTEs are unnecessary, also few of them cause instant dead. Players unable to respond in less than 1 second causing dead and unnecessary continue. Some QTEs also never warn the player with timer like in Ada Wong chapter which causing drown in the submarine .Disaster scenerio which causing player die for “unknown reason” like Chris campaign and Jake campaign. Capcom ! PLEASE understand that no players will want to continue for unnecessary dead.PLEASE feedback to the quality control team which failed to do so.To the producers, you have created WHAT WE WANT, BUT NOT WE LIKE.
2.Aiming mechanism
Aiming or target reticule is not accurate; player is hard to aim.
The aiming reticule can be smaller and the red dot should be bigger as help player easy to aim.
Since red dot is the damage count not the reticule.
The size of classic infra should or can be tweaked like resident evil 4.
The steady hand and the after fire recoil rate should be reduced as the game design is already hard.
3.Camera angles
When in cutscene, the AI monster still moving and shooting the player while player was locked and cannot move.
When cover behind the wall or object , the player's control and the camera angle is problematic.
Player needs to hold L1 and press X with left thumb left/right and tweak right thumb for angle and press R2 to shoot. And sometimes the character stick back to wall or camera angle just change for unknown reason when return fire.
Especially in Ada Wong and Chris Redfield chapter, this cause player unable to shot or return fire behind the wall effectively.
4.Gaming level and AI level
The gaming was designed to be hard and unetiquette.
Example, the Javo with RPG will shot the player in less than 3 seconds in Chris chapter 2.
The chopper shot rocket to player less than 5 seconds in Chris chapter 3...Just when the mission start.
The Javo can take 3 blocks of full health of player which cause player can endure only 2 hits from monsters.3rd hit will cause player in dying status which player can give up the game. Not to mentioned when Javo attack in group and mutating.
Chris Redfield is getting Rifle weapon late in the campaign which player suffer from Javo snipper attack.
Some diasater scenerio which never warn player directly, causing player death and continue for unknown reason.
Most of the scenerio FORCE THE PLAYER RUN THRU as there are more enemies and lack of ammo.
Some chapter storyline is long.
In some scenerio , player does not know is it necessary to shot the monster or the boss to certain damage or in certain hit.
5.Inventory Size
Grenade or herb Inventory size can be increased due to the hard game level
6. Inventory screen
Inventory screen can be situated at the back of the character. Not in the center of the screen. The current design is blocking the screen especially when playing Mercenary .
7.Skill system
It does not help the player much which can only equip 3 skills in set. I believe there are few people OR almost none will change their skill set during the game.(And the joke is, 8 set skills only enable after complete a campaign). Also some skills are unnecessary . Moreover these skills is not available in Mercenary.
8. No weapon upgrade
Due to this, player cannot enjoy the satisfaction of upgrading weapon. This means you will not "feel" the damage difference as you shot the zombie with handgun or machine gun like RE4.
9.Less replay value
No hidden custome and hidden storyline in campaign for player to reenjoy this game .
Unlike the tradition, player will not get any unlimited ammo RPG or special secret weapon to payback the monsters.
10.Change of Survival Horror
Since RE4 and RE5, players are expected to get less survival horror atmosphere due to the leaving of Shinji Mikami and changing of Capcom staff.
New gaming design and marketing strategy to suits the NEW ONLINE PLAYER SHOOTTER demand for gaming like FPS and TPS, causing storyline is not an interesting focus anymore.
Thank You !
Troll away, but I just want casual glancers of these topics to know you're lying.
What i hate at most in the series where came back in the remake, and i really hope they will never get back to "that", i'm serious! If people can't stand the action in new games, well just move on and play something else, i say. I've recently played 1 and 2, i like it but as they are, adventure horro game, now the series as moved in a more action based game, following the direction of the whole story, from an incident inside a mansion to a global warning situation. Chris's campaign is too "military"? Well what you expect the BSSA do? Pull lever and crates? Or fighting BOWS and Bio Terrorists? And the only zombies i've seen where in Leon's chapters. Where are the machine gun zombies, please? The Javoo? They're infected pepole, like everyone else since the first 2 original games (Tyrant, William Birkin, Lickers, Hunters, Neptune....)
Nostalgia can blind so many people, even who never have played one of them.
You talk about ignorance, yet display it in absolute bucket-loads. Your tolerance for people who have a differing opinion to your own is so low that you actively state that anyone with such an opinion is not worthy of expressing it. Why shouldn't they be allowed to, when you expect to be allowed to spout drivel like this and get away with it? To disagree with someone's opinion is one thing, but to personally attack them and their level of intelligence is another thing entirely. It's a prime display of the kind of idiocy that you're accusing people who like this game of.
As far as the whole REmake thing goes, whilst I agree that it is a far superior survival horror game, I wouldn't say that it's production values offer anything over RE6. I don't think either of the feel like cheap, rip-off games.
Thats for everyone?, not at all, in a hospital you can find healthy people, maybe because they work there, they were visiting someone, or maybe because they like the Hospital cafe!. In forums it's the same, not everyone is there to complain, there can be people who just like speak about their game or to be informed about news. But generally on forums of discussions, you will find discussions with people who are not happy with some aspects of the game.
Knowing this, take the forums answers as the game reception answer, shouldn't be very acerted because the forum community, don't represent the gamer community by far.
The why RE6 hate, has already been answered here so I won't repeat anymore :p
Since my opinion, I think there are some fails in the game, I missed the riddles, puzzles, and some more of freedom to explore, but away of that, I love RE6 too much as my favourite REgame till the date. :3 (And I vote for a Piers rescue!! ò_ó ).
