Report a translation problem
considering it's a port from the console, why wouldn't it lol
The game was designed for a controller. If you aren't used to playing shooters with a joystick it will be awkward at first. Outside of aiming though, the rest of the controls are so much better. In fact many people who are failing at the chase scenes, like the one at the end of Chris' campaign are failing due to poor translation of the controls onto the mouse/keyboard.
Well, yes, that's how it felt for me.
I haven't touched a controller since my Playstation1 got boring (and I got one the first few weeks it was out), so it might be me being used to high dpi gaming mice, instead of analog sticks.
But besides aiming all the other controls seemed much easier, the d-pad for your inventory, the dodge moves, etc.
And Ada's little chase scene with the Ubistvo tearing those bamboo scaffoldings to shreds was much easier with the stick, whereas with keyboard you have to keep tapping something between w and d to move the right way.
With the proper mouse and setup it's no big deal anymore though. My new mouse is just perfect for the job, all the QTEs on thumb buttons. If a zombie grabs you you are released as soon as you touch the wiggle macro button.
So yeah, controller seem to be very much okay, if you are used to aiming with a stick.
I'm gonna stick with my mouse now though, maybe there's another game soon where I like the controller more.
A friend and I used to argue at length about this very topic. Our discussions boiled down to this:
It all depends on how much practice you've had and what you're used to. I've seen some console players pull off headshots with the controller like they were aiming with a mouse.
Exactly. A mouse provides the kind of precision that will literally never exist with a gamepad. Mouse accuracy is absolute; gamepad accuracy is relative. That's just how analog sticks are, compared to a laser from a mouse. There's no debating about it, because it's a hard fact, thanks to the hardware involved.
