Did anyone pass Chris Chapter 5 Escape the B.O.W. with Keyboard and Mouse?
See thread title. I would be curious for this. And here is also a tiny analysis after 100+ death. Here is how I play until a certain point, where I usually die. There is one point which I believe is the key and that's the point where I always dies. So I need a little help from those who have passed this part with keyboard and mouse.

- Running up the ladder by pressing the W + SPACE, then JUMP onto the platform.
- Running toward the camera by pressing the S + SPACE, and sometimes the D to correct the course.
- Camera switch here, back to TPS mode. W + SPACE. Going to the right side of the platform and pressing V to help Piers up, then V to climb up with his help.
- Pressing the W + SPACE again to jump down from the platform.
- Shot the B.O.W. few times to proceed.
- TPS mode again. W + SPACE, sometimes with correcting the course by pressing the A.
- Camera switch to front view. S + SPACE, sometimes pressing the D to correct the course to the right side of the path.
- AND HERE comes the camera switch which is taking the character out of the view if I press W + SPACE when the camera moves back and forth to revert back to TPS mode. Here, in 90% of the cases the character stuck ouside the camera, stuck into the wall. This is the point where if you accidentaly pass, you have to press the W + SPACE and Right click to slide. But because of this camera change and stuck, even if I pass further, I lost too many times because of the camera controls. So my question is; if anyone passed this part, what button do you press when the camera is switching to TPS mode prior the slide? Presumably not W + SPACE, which would be evident, but it's not. I believe this is the key for this scene as this is the part where the camera goes FUBAR and you're losing too much times, so you won't be able to complete this part at all.

Thanks for the help.

took me 25 deaths to get this one right, XD. well I have both hands on the direction keys trying to keep the angle in line and I only used the mouse when I had to shoot or slide.

I'll try this next time. May I ask what buttons you used when that camera switch has happened?

Just be ready to switch direction to "up+right" when you know this camera is the next

This is the only camera angle which needs a prediction, others have enough time to correct your direction on response.

So, W + D + SPACE. Thanks. I'll give it a try.

Okay. I tried it. Basically it would work, as I passed once and died at the second Press V segment, which has also happened because of the unresponsive controls. The problem is that seemingly the camera glitch is completely random at this point (After you have to shoot the B.O.W.), so sometimes the W + D works, but sometimes it doesn't. It seems the inversion is tied to one certain point. But sometimes the camera doesn't reach that point regardless what you press, so even if you can keep the character in view, but if the camera doesn't reach the point of inversion, the inverse control stays as if the camera would still show the character from the front, while it's already showing the character from TPS mode. So this is a major bug and you may pass this scene only with luck, nothing else as your timing has no connection to anything at this point. If the camera is luckily reaching the point of inversion and keeping the character in view, you can proceed, if not, and this is happening in 99% of the cases, the inverted control stays, the character may be out of the FOV, and you dies because you're losing time thanks to this FUBAR camera and control scheme.

chris and piers their campaign is impossible and the worst campaign in the game
keTch-uP Mar 29, 2013 @ 7:45am
This is very doable with a keyboard without dying once:
First of all, the obvious, don't let go of space unless you need to give a lift for Piers/climbing up with Piers' help.
Second, don't reload your weapon after clearing HAOS blocking your path, if you absolutely must reload, do it during the second time he blocks your path. If you reload after he lets go, you'll lose a lot of time because you can't run while reloading.
Third and most important: The camera starts to spin when HAOS jumps towards you and you're closer to the wall(outer)-side of the platforms, so try to keep running on the inner-side(the one HAOS clings to) and it won't spin as badly.

Doom. I hold the space all over. I also realized what is causing the camera glitch. The mouse itself, so as Jason said in the begnning. I used WASD + SPACE all over, releasing the mouse completely with the exception of those parts where I have to shoot and slide. So the camera glitch is partially solved. The second problem is after the slide part, before reaching the next PRESS V scene. Regardless how fast I run with Chris, even if I run along with Piers side by side, the B.O.W. kicks me down from the platform. Sometimes I'm capable to reach the second V platform and I'm capable to help Piers up, but there is not enough time to pull me up. Any ideas for this?
[SGDN] Guardian Mar 29, 2013 @ 7:50am
The camera doesn't spin in you release the mouse. If the mouse is moving just a millimeter, the camera immediately spins and sucks. I do the first part simply by releasing the mouse and using the WASD + SPACE, plus the V when I have to. Then I touch the mouse only when I have to shoot and slide, then I release it again. With this method there is no problem with the camera. The problem is with the speed after the slide. I can't run fast enough to help Piers up and then to climb after him. Before Piers would be able to pull me up, I'm dead, even if we run side by side to that platform.

Do you reload your weapon after the first block?
[SGDN] Guardian Mar 29, 2013 @ 7:53am
I don't have to. I have an Assault Rifle and afte the first block I still have 50% of the magazine. I simply run, but regarless how fast I'm, the B.O.W. kicks me down before the second block. There have to be a trick for the second part.

Guardian, I just try and get those prompts done as quickly as possible without dying. well I'm not sure, my deaths from this escape scene have been more about the camera angle, all I can say is, once you help piers up, press v in that same location right after. on both ends.
[SGDN] Guardian Mar 29, 2013 @ 7:58am
I'll give it a try again. But as I experienced, special thanks to Jason, if you relase the mouse (With the exception at those places where you have to shoot and slide), the camera glitch is automatically solved.

Thanks for the help. I got it. 70 deaths in overall for this tiny segment alone, but I finally did it. :)
