So what about LAN play?

It seems like most people in the steam community hub are saying that RE6 will not feature LAN play. However, some sources that I found on the internet states the opposite.

Any official words on what's the case? It would be a shame if the game doesn't have LAN ptions..

It might as well have the option if it got splitscreen but in this case I am not sure as to what the actual case is.

Do you frequently go to lan parties where there is no internet connection whatsoever? Even if matchmaking is still via steam, you should be able to play with someone on the lan without problems.

I agree that true LAN support would be great, but functionally I'm not sure how often it is necessary these days.

But you'll already be able to do that, it'll just be necessary to be connected to steam for the matchmaking servers. I fully intend to play it co-op with my little brother, and we're both on the same LAN. I'll be seriously surprised if it registers a ping higher than 5ms.

Well, if it's steamworks, you should be able to host "local servers", right? In that case, I guess it's not a big deal for me, since my connection is good. If my connection weren't, however, it would be a shame not to be able to enjoyr lag-free LAN.
