Honestly now.
Saying so, have you tried to emulate it as an Xbox 360 controller (If that's possible / Please excuse me if I'm just said the same thing. I'm not sure what help you'll get from here considering this game is like a few months old on the PC)
Reaaaaly late response i know but, I just bought this game. Im having the issues described above. In my case I used DS4 wich is supposed to emulate an xbox 360 remote.
So my issues are as follows:
I have 1 xbox one controller and 1 ps4 controller.
If dont emulate a 360 controller, the ps4 will have inverted x and ys on the right stick.
If I emulate the xbox 360 remote using DS4tool, the ps4 remote ends up controlling both players.
This is reeeeally annoying as I just bought this game :/
I havent found a solution yet
You don't need a ds4 tool anymore. Steam has support for DS4 controllers. I can use X360 controller or DS4 controller without any problems. Atm playing RE6 with the DS4 controller as my X360 is really old and not that good anymore (like 7 years old lol).
You can just plug your DS4 controller in with the usb cable. Just go to Steam->Settings->Controller->General Settings. Activate PS 4 Controller support.
Then after you activated it, right click on RE6 in your library and choose Steam-Controller Configuration. There you press the button to look through the premade configurations. Go to the templates and choose the one that's named 'Gamepad'. Apply it and you'll have it configured like a normal XBox360 controller.
Also in Steam->Settings->Controller you can change the Desktopconfiguration to disabled in case it annoys you that you control your mouse with your controller when there's a menu.
Edit:
Also, if you don't like the big picture overlay (like me) then you can go Steam->Settings->In Game and uncheck the second thing.
And you can use your DS4 controller this way with any game. Just add it to the steam library as a non steam game and do the same thing with right clicking on it etc. ^^
