should I play RE5 prior to RE6?
...well I've tried out today SP in RE6 but it started like it picks up after RE5 ...or are these games not linear story-wise?
I never had the chance to complete RE5 so that's why I'm asking if I should complete it first and then continue to RE6

To understand most of the story, I do suggest playing RE4 and RE5 before hitting 6 so you know most of the background story. Mostly to understand the history, personality and relations of all the characters.

Re6 is not one of those games where story follows straight from previous game to next one, so its not like there is a need to play Re5 before you jump in to this one unless its something you want.

Being an owner of both games,I like RE5 better then RE6.RE5 has a longer campaign but it only has one campaign.RE6 has 4 campaigns but they're all too short.I would recommend RE5.

Thx for your replies, sadly there isn't RE4 on steam so I will just pass on it.
I thought it really continues from the story of RE5. Guess I will just play the RE6 for now, and when I have more time I will get back to RE5.
And then I will go forth with Racoon City :)

racoon city is not main canon, just to let you know.

but the atmosphere of RE series is there, actually I played it a while back and it wasn't that bad.
although I suck with my xbox controller and I was much better with keyboard and mouse...when aiming....guess I just have to play more on the controller >.<

The Gunplay in ORC always felt buggy for me, IDK.

I don't suggest playing 5 before this because it's actually a good game and you'll be depressed taking the huge leap downward off the cliff as you enter RE6. The story is entirely moot, as well. You don't need to know a damn thing pre to RE6 to play it. You won't understand anything, but that doesn't matter anyway because the story is a huge poorly written pile of trash that doesn't make any sense even if you know RE inside and out.(Which the writers of this clearly didn't) The story and character actions of RE6 will insult anyone that has even a vague understanding of what came before it. RE5 is an all around great game, where as RE6 took more steps backwards than forwards from it. So if you want to play them in order, fine, but if you want to play them in order by quality, RE5 should be at the very end without even being visible to the others on Steam.
