Can story mode be played in online coop?

1) Can I play the game with my steam friends together in story mode?

2) If yes, does it work the same way like in RE5 or how do we host and join?

3) Does any of the DLCs contain story campaigns that can also be played in coop, if yes, which ones?

Every campaign and every single DLC can be played in co-op (some DLCs you get to fight against your friends, but they are still multiplayer). DLCs do not contain any story-related stuff, it's mostly just fun additional modes you can play.
It's the same as in RE5: you get in a lobby before starting the game and you can invite friends to join (even random players can join), and they can join in the very middle of the gameplay as well, without having to reload checkpoint or wait until next room transition like in RE5 :)
