Skill point unlocking requirements racked up in Mercenaries?

Some of the skill points have quite a decent requirements . for example getting 800 kills using the crossbow. However, the crossbow can be only used during Ada's campaign. So that would mean farming the campaign over and over again.

But can you get those requirements done via Mercenaries? If you use Ada and the crossbow at Mercenaries, are those kills included to the skill point requirement uncloking system?
