Also, it's Leon's job to shoot the trap zombies, that's why you get extra sniper rifle ammo there.
If you're stuck then you're supposed to roll under the spinning blade, snipe the trap zombie on Helena's side from there and wait till a lever zombie spawns on your side, at the opposite side of the spinning blade.
It's possible to throw a fire grenade at a particular angle to make it bounce off a pillar and go right at the zombie, but it's not the easiest task.
Possibly, finding another person would be a better experience for you, but the bot (usually) cannot die, while another player can screw up at any time.

The issue where the AI doesn't help you might be a Skill named "Lone Wolf" or "DO NOT HELP!!" This "Skill" makes the AI ignores you and leaves you on your own.
