REv2 has couch coop campaign and coop raid mode.
I see REv2 as improvement over REv1 in terms of horror.
RE6 has larger community, but more difficult controls to master.
REv2 has simplified controls similar to REv1.
But, if u like horror games like Evil Within with episodic story. Resident Evil Revelation 2 is for you, but it has no coop campaign.. It has a raid mode coop though, I havent tried raid mode myself
RE6 is worst RE game ever created.
About comunity in both REV2 and RE6 its almost dead. Only very few still play those games.
REV2 is more horror than RE6. RE6 dont have horror atmosphere at all. They try create it in Leon campaign but its failuire, to many action for horror.
About DLCs i prefer Raid Mode than Mercs etc.
Completely subjective.
In the story Campaign, RE Rev2 has the option of cooperative if it's in the same computer and one of them is using a game controller (leaving the mouse and keyboard for the other player) so at the end of the day, RE Rev2 is single player game for most of the people.
There is the Raid mode, a pack of minimissions that takes you to a lot of places of RE Rev2 and RE6, it's quite variated so it's not heavy nor require a long farming to get some rewards. There are chances to play online to the Raid mode:
- Random matches, but the progress that you make with a random match is not saved, so it's quite odd find a useful randon match (and most of the times are with very low level players).
- Player invitation, you can invite a player to your lobby so the 2 can play together in your levels. But again, I haven't found anyone and I don't apply there, I only use that choice when I want invite particular friends.
So since my point of view, there are not worthy online community in RE Rev2.
RE6 has more multiplayer modes and PvP, finding people for those modes is difficult, you can make it easier if you joint to the Steam groups of the game to be warned when the people are playing. In that way, I can find and see that the RE6 online community are still active. not as the PS3 on its golden time, but enough for some matches.
The story campaigns has all of them the cooperative mode (in the same computer or online), and finding people with open games to join there is quite easy.

About difficulty, RE6 is more easy than RE Rev2.
RE6 is practically a straight path that to progress you must go fighting what are fun for its enhaced fighting system but are not really challenging on its most encounters.
RE Rev2 the player actions has been capped so the battle is more rusty while enemies received a proper enhacement in their agressivity, so they are more challenging there. Also the walkthrough, is lineal in a lot of areas but it brings some puzzles items requirements to can progress.

About what is better, for me is RE6 without any doubt, is has a lot of more content (areas, campaigns, characters, bestiary...), the battle system is much better, the multiplayer add a lot of replayability, the long soundtrack that covers tons of areas and sitations, the drama, the excitment and greatness of the tittle. RE6 is indeed a good game.
RE Rev2 although it was released after, it looks much poorer than RE6, it wasn't bad because the game is not pretended to be a high successs, it was a kind of snack for the waiting, a smaller game, so it was well received even with their smaller content, graphics and repeated assets. The problems I've got with RE Rev2 are the lack of coop, and the handicapped combat. But apart of that, is a nice game (not to compare with any AAA game, but a nice installment for the fans).
The better would be a mix, RE6 with more exploration and more mystery as RE Rev2 . But between those 2, RE6 is my winner bet.
