Is RE: Vendetta a sequel of RE for you?
Finally I got my blu-ray and could enjoy the directors comments and extras. Between them, there is a video of TGS 2016 when they presented the first trailer of the movie. And one of the producers, Kobayashi, defined the movie as the sequel of RE6, and that most people who liked that game would like the movie.

On my side, as RE6 fan I think he was right, I like the movie a lot, my favourite from the 3 CGI movies. However, I´m not so sure about it being the deserverd RE6 sequel. It makes some points.

- The movie fix the relation between Chris and Leon, who were fighting in RE6 for Ada, and don´t take them too much time start to argue again then they meet in RE:Vendetta, but then they progress from that point, to one where they trust eachother and manage to do a good team work.

- The movie also brings back Rebecca explaining her background through all these years.

- It also introduce the SIlver Dagger, the new response team created after the Waiyip events leaded by Chris.

- And over that, the consistency in lore, style and world.

But despite of that, I still miss more elementes and subplots than what 90 mins RE: Vendetta offered. (More info about other characters, more different BOWs, apart of the proper videogame format with its potential enhacements).

So I welcome the movie, but I don´t know it really fullfilling the gap of the RE sequel.

What´s your thoughts?

It's a great movie I much appreciate and a much better Resident Evil than RE7 can ever hope to be, also I still want a new action RE that I can actually play and not just watch.

I think the movie is a bullet fest with a terrible excuse of a plot. Even RE6 was way more competent and had better storytelling than the laughable Vendetta plot. Can't see it as a proper sequel because it doesn't even follows-up RE6 either.

Vendetta is like a parody of all the worst things RE had mixed together while despising all the good ones.

it was fun movie but, i can't say is the best but definitely there is much worse movies. What i love the most was chris , and rebbecca . What i hate it was forced leon scenes and no PIERS !!!

I'll admit that, while a good game in its own right, I felt like RE7 was a massive step back after what RE6 brought to the table. Vendetta was like a consolation prize for me in the wake of seven's announcement. It doesn't really stand out as a movie in terms of plot, but it does have some great fight scenes and really appeals to the RE action fan in me, we got to see some nice dynamics between Chris and Leon, and we got to see Rebecca again. So I overall loved it.
