The error seems to be associated with DirectX. What operating system are you running, and what is the bit version? Windows 7 64-bit?
Overseer Jun 4, 2017 @ 12:33am
Have you installed the latest Creators Update?
Doc. Devil Jun 4, 2017 @ 4:08am
Having the same issue. Windows 10 64-bit creators update (all up to date)

The weird thing, is that it launched and worked perfectly fine. But I had force closed it because i had forgotten to change some audio settings with my pc, and when I started it back up I got the same error.

Had already reinstalled, verified file integrety, updated windows and my drivers, same issue.

Sorry for being an idiot and not reading the title of your post. Got too focused on that error message.

Do you get the error message sometime after the game successfully launches, or does it occur when you attempt to launch it?

I'd also like to get the specs for the system you're using. There's an easy way to do that if you don't remember everything installed in your system.

1. Open the Start Menu
2. Enter "dxdiag" into the field labeled "Type here to Search".
3. Press Enter
4. Click on "Save All Information"
5. Open the new file
6. Copy Everything under "System Information"
7. Post that info here
8. Go back to the file and copy everything under "Display Devices" up to "Rank Of Driver"
7. Post that info here.

I'll take a look and see if I can find any information or replicate the issue in a virtual machine. Also, hold on to that file. I may need more information from it later on.

Concerning the Creators Update:
I had and still have driver issues with almost all games. Most of them don't recognize DirectX or the graphics card with the wrong drivers. I could solve this with installing an older driver.
So check other games and how they work.

All my games mostly work.
again the only ones that seem to NOT work are my resident evil ones OR my dark souls 3 x.x

Force a reinstall of DX9 and DX11 on your system. You can do a web search on how to do that.
MeTechulous Jun 5, 2017 @ 12:29pm
Those are definitely the droids I was looking for.

From what I can see under the Display Devices, it looks like your using a 250 series driver. At least that's how the card appears to be detected. Are you using the Radeon R7 250, or is it another card in the series?

My initial thought is if you're using a "generic" driver applicable to a series of cards, it may not be optimized to properly handle DirectX. If that's the case, you may need to find the driver specific to your card and install that. Let me know what card you got and I'll go from there.

how do i do that?
Meturoido Jun 7, 2017 @ 7:20pm
Go to your RE6 installation folder and open "resources", there you will find DXSETUP.exe and vcredist_x86, run both files.
Doc. Devil Jun 16, 2017 @ 10:40am
Hey, try opening the install location of RE6,
right click on BH6.exe,
go to properties>compatability,
Run compatability troubleshooter

It should set the game to run in compatability mode with Windows 8.

Test the solution. It might come up with an error saying "Couldn't initialize Steam" or something like that. But just close the error and click continue in the compatability toubleshooter.

Say the solution solved your probllem, Save the settings, and try launching the game from Steam. That's what got it to work for me. Was the one thing I forgot to try out till i was out of options lol.

EDIT: Had the same error with RE0HD, the same fixed managed to work for that too.

Going off this, maybe try running it with Windows 7 or 8.1 compatibility mode.

EDIT:
The game launcher, I mean.

I looked there and all that was in that folder was: something called 'vini2'

however when i tried running it again all i ran into was this error now:

D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE : mpCore->GetDeviceCaps(adapter,devicetype,&caps)
