Feeding live stock.

I have started building farms to get more live stack but i keep getting messages saying "Pig starved!" What do you feed them and how?

I think you need wheat, or maybe berries for desert maps? Also, it's not obvious in the game because the farm has a fence around it, but you need to build a second fence around that to keep the animals from wandering off. A farm fence works at one level high, any other wall needs to be two levels high to keep the animals in. Without a wall, the animals wander off and it takes extra time for people to find them and bring them food.

It would be nice if you could plant wheat or other crops in the fields where the animals are kept and they would just forage on their own.

You feed them with wheat, but DONT FEED THEM, let them starve. Or better disable the feeding animals job in every job group

Yes, if there is wheat available, feeding the livestock is part of what your people do with their other tasks. With v11 you can set how important this is in the job priority list.

Are you raising the pigs for pets? Pigs are for two things right now raw pork and bones. You'll need to setup auto-production in the production menu to keep your livestock population down.

First, don't forget to put a gate in that fence! Second, once you have your farms up and running, you want to butcher everything they produce. At least, that is what I do these days, since discovering that slaughtering all animals does not kill your farm production. And, yes, if you over produce, just let them starve.

I find this all so ironic after spending much time playing Dont Starve, where hunger is a constant threat and the humanoid Pigs will relentlessly murder you if you provoke their back-and-forth-rampant-rage.

There is a monster in game that is disguised as pig, and can kill your townies

When they starve they leave bones everywhere that get in the way, I have tasked them to be burnt in the incinerator but don't know which task I need to prioritise for that to get done. i'm hoping it isn't haul because the people seem to prefer to stack spiderite in barrels rather than burning extra bones
