Moonlight Peaks

Moonlight Peaks

I really enjoyed my 5hrs with the demo!
I love the look of this game. Graphically it's adorable, the portrait of gorgeous.

My nitpicks with the demo so far:

Catching bugs and blobs is kind of not good. It's one thing if it's challenging, but it's more so that the hitbox is so small, that I find myself swinging right through the same blob or bug several times for a few seconds before I hit it exactly with the net. It just doesn't feel good.

It was unclear for the first two or three days how to actually plant vegetables. I don't know if I'm just slow (entirely possible), but it took way too long, I had to look it up and I found a post on Steam asking the exact same thing, and that's how I found out that I just had to dig with the shovel.

The witch character you meet, I don't know if this is just me, but her little in-game character is so much paler than her portrait. In her portrait art, she actually looks like a POC, but in game she's just pale. It was a weird disconnect.

I love speeding up traversal via turning into a bat, but one nitpick: you can't fly past the garden fences. You can fly through other fences, but not the garden fences. I think as a literal flying creature, you should be able to do that, it made tending to my herbs a hassle sometimes because of my fences.

There was also one graphical glitch I encountered with my crops' shadows. The shadows would warp and flicker whenever I moved near them sometimes.

Once I got into the groove of it, it was very addicting, as any good farming sim, and there's a decent amount of customization available that I really like, I really hope they add tons more in the full game. So far so good, though.

I'm five hours in, and I think I'll stop here due to there being not much else beyond farming right now and customizing. I can't talk to anyone but my cat who pretty much was repeating lines quickly. The demo doesn't show the town yet, and interactions are slowly drip-fed, so I feel I've experienced enough to decide my opinion.

Awesome premise, lovely visuals, and addicting gameplay; with polish to some movements and perhaps to instilling intuitiveness in mechanics, this will be an amazing time, and I'm looking forward to the full game.

I figured out how to plant fairly quickly once I realized it wasn't the flower box for planting crops. In the real game we probably wont start off with a flower box already so it wont be as confusing. Just had to play with the buttons to find what brings up the tools, but you have a lot more choices on keyboard to try and figure it out that way. It would also be nice if the tools auto selected based on what tile you are targeting but I guess then the wand would need to be a separate thing so maybe it's not possible.

My issue was seeds. I thought I could only get them from dig site drops. I didn't know they were buried way way down among the items on the flower vendors list. The seeds should be at the tops since it's what you'll need to buy most. I did eventually also see there are tabs but they really aren't obvious and need to jump out at the player more, like be brighter.
