That is quite odd and I haven't heard about it so far.
Can you still manually select a weapon through your inventory and use it?
What controller are you using?
Are there any 3rd party software running in the background that could affect the way the game controllers work?
Ubisoft Support
The weapons don't leave my inventory slots, then just return as if I have put them away. So if I go to strike an enemy with my sword, it is drawn and then a split second later it is put away and I strike with my fist instead.
What's worse is that when it happens it doesn't only affect the current save, but also a couple, or more, of the previous saves. It's really weird.
I thought that maybe it was because I was going to certain areas before the "story" takes me there. This never happened in my first playthrough.
I am using an xbox one controller. I have the game on Uplay and added it to Steam and play it through steam as I was having controller issues on Uplay and after searching for a fix I found one that said to add it to steam and play that way.
What was happening with Uplay was when I launched the game, as soon as it got the last screen before the main menu my controller starts playing up. Connecting and disconnecting and so on, making it impossible to use.
However, other games like Avatar, which I also have been playing recently, are unaffected. Although I do have to shut down Steam first because playing a game through Uplay while Steam is open also caused issues...
Also, thankyou for replying. I really wasn't expecting a reply, especially from a dev...
Can you tell us when was this controller acting up in Ubisoft Connect happening?
Was it something recent or an old(er) experience?
Controller issues may be resolved by UC updates, so it's worth checking it again.
Would you test if this bug also happens to you when using only mouse and keyboard with the controller disconnected? I know it's much more convenient to play such games with a controller, but this is just an experiment.
Ubisoft Support
This current issue however is new. I have never had this happen before...
For example, currently, if I load AC Vahalla via Ubisoft Connect as soon as you get to the final screen where you have to hit a key to move on to the main menu it starts. Disconnecting, connecting, and so on and so on every several seconds.
However, if I load say Avatar FoP right after and with the same controller there is no problem.
I can test it with m & kb just to see, but only to see if it's different, I CANNOT play that way for long. I have medical issues that prevent me from using mouse & keyboard, which is why I have been using a controller for years now. I can't play games without it..
It actually happened again today, twice.. I was trying to get all the River Raids done the last few days and got up the River Eriff, I think it is. Where you have to kill 2 captains and the the Champ to get the sword.
Well I did that, twice.. After returning back and having the cutscene conversation with the Raid guy, forgot his name, I went to use a weapon and nope. Bugged So I reloaded an earlier save, got to that point again, killed the captains, killed the Champ with no issue.
Got back to Ravensthorp, had the cutscene.... and bugged again.. Honestly, I do not think I will be able to keep playing at this rate..
So today I loaded the game up, both via Steam and directly via Ubisoft Connect without turning on my controller and this bug was still present even with mouse & keyboard.
In order to show you what is happening, and to prove I was not just making this up, I managed to make a video of it, which I have never done before. Here is the link...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixEBdQiM-BQ
Now you can see what I am experiencing whenever this bug kicks in. It makes it impossible to play the game as you cannot use any weapons besides your fists...
Also, this was done using only mouse & keyboard. So even without using the controller the issue still persists...
Apologies for the delay in my answer.
I do appreciate your effort to record this video. Yes, it does look odd.
You mentioned a medical condition. Forgive me asking, but are you using any additional accessibility hardware of software?
This kind of issue is something I see for the first time. There may be something specific regarding your set up that makes it happen.
No, nothing like that.. It's just that leaning forward, even that small amount, to use the mouse & keyboard puts pressure on my abdomen and soon leads to pain. The longer I do it, the more pain I am in.
With a controller I can sit back and play.. Even leaning forward to type for too long or too often, like those 2 long messages I left, causes pain, but certainly nothing that would interfere with the game...
I'm sorry for only getting back to you after so much time.
Please let me know if this is still happening to you and if yes, if your Steam account from which you are posting, is the one linked to your Ubisoft account where you play(ed) Valhalla?
The reason I asked about it is that the game team may ask for your account to check your cloud files.
Well I haven't been back to it as I was waiting/hoping to hear back from you, so yes, I would assume it is still happening.
Yes, this is the steam account that I have linked with Ubisoft, as I only have the one account...
Can you check if the current save file you have, is uploaded to the Ubisoft cloud?
Do you have uploading saves enabled in the Ubisoft Connect?
If not, we would like to collect your local save file.
For that, please submit a support ticket with attached save file for analysis - https://ubi.li/i1JM5
The standard location with save files for PC would be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\USER ID\13504
As a rule I have cloud saves turned off, however the game still shows cloud saves at certain points.
However, I did submit a ticket as you requested and it's Case Number; 21858230
Thankyou for looking into this, it's a real annoying bug which obviously prevents me from playing this. I certainly can go through the game with just fists... :)
