Activation Code

I purchased Assassins Creed Valhalla Complete Edition during the free weekend, and now its saying it has expired. Its asking for an activation code however I never received one. I have the email from steam from buying the game but there is no CD Key or Verification code anywhere on the email. I was told activation codes are no longer needed and if I'm being prompted to enter one I would need to restart Steam which Ive done. Ive also restarted the PC and verified the game files as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the game none of which worked. If an activation code isn't needed why is it asking for one and how do I find the code from my purchase?
