Ubisoft Connect disconnects randomly during gameplay
just randomly Connect disconnects for some reason which is why i get the error of unable to synchronize cloud saves. why? why does this keep happening? it happened with Odyssey and now it's happening with Valhalla. why can't the launcher simply stay online? i understand that happening when i'm not playing a game, but it's outrageous that it happens while i'm using the thing actively playing the game.

Thanks for reaching out, I'm sorry to see you're having issues with the client's connection when playing.

Do you receive any errors mid-session or only after closing the game? And only the failed to sync cloud saves error?

no, no errors of any kind mid-session or after closing the game, only the "failing to synchronize saves" message. after i cancel that message launcher says it disconnected due to inactivity, which is why i get that message about failing to sychronize saves and it's also why retrying to synchronize saves doesn't work because launcher disconnected.

Don't expect a fix, this issue is known since july 2022 (seen on ubisoft support forum) and is related to ubisoft launcher badly coded.
A workaround : connect ubi launcher to your ubi account, close the launcher (don't let it active in system tray), launch your game via steam and after exiting the game make sure to close ubi launcher to avoid "inactivity disconnection".
I had the same issue and this workaround works for me. Hope this can help.

but i want the launcher active because i'm doing achievements, challenges etc. so i need it on.
but thanks anyway for providing a workaround for the disconnecting launcher. will have to give it a try.

Sorry if i wasn't clear : the ubi launcher still be active while playing, you can't play the game without.
When you launch throught Steam, ubi launcher will pop.
After your gaming session just quit ubi launcher to avoid automatic disconnection ;)

i do that already, just start the game from Steam and let Connect auto log in.

i think you mean don't let the launcher be active on taskbar and let it instead only be "open" in tray. i will try "closing it" to tray before i leave the game and see if that stops failing to synchronise.

point is as soon as i stop playing the launcher tries synchronizing saves and i get the message. i can't be faster than it popping up because it's automatic as soon as the game closes.
Yep because you are already disconnected from ubi launcher.
1-That's why the first step is to launch ubisoft connect ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\UbisoftConnect.exe"), log in with your ubi ID (aka mail and password), after you succesfully logged in you can quit it.
2-After that launch your game throught steam as usual. Then you shouldn't experience the synchronysation issue when exiting the game.
3-If all's ok at this point just make sure to quit the ubi launcher to avoid automatic disconnection.

We are indeed aware of the inactivity issues currently present with Ubisoft Connect.

There is an investigation open and ongoing, but I'm afraid we don't have any updates on this as of yet.

Nope, I mean close it completly, if minimized in tray : right-clic and quit.

BTW I forgot to mention you must have two-factor authentification of your Ubi account disabled for this workaround to work. I tried myself : when two factor identification is active the ubi launcher disconnect for inactivity while playing, no i'm not joking...

So you have to make a choice between your account security and playing the game you paid for. Here my sources :

yeah i have authenticator and i don't wanna turn it off, but still thanks for the workaround. maybe it'll be helpful to someone if they stumble upon this discussion.

i don't wanna turn off the authenticator so the user offered workaround isn't the solution especially since that means not being able to keep track of achievements and challenges, but i do appreciate the info. hopefully this gets resolved soon because in my so far 100h of gameplay it only started happening recently.

Overall this would be only to troubleshoot the issue, so we can see where the issue may be coming from.

However, as confirmed by Ubi_TheBerry, there is an investigation regarding this issue. As soon as more information becomes available, an update should be posted.

We would not recommend a resolution, that would lower a Ubisoft account's security.
