i suggest setting Ubisoft Connect (Launcher) to Offline - this is the Only Way to Disable Cloud Saves for AC Valhalla.
Being offline will disable the Opal Merchant, and you will not be able to collect Opal (all managed through on-line source).
Give it try - hope it works for you. It certainly helped for me.
No you can disable cloud saves, and only that, in the settings menu of Ubi connect. There's a checkbox named "allow cloud saves for compatible games" you can uncheck.
I will try to disable the cloud save feature tho
That doesn't stop Cloud Saves for this game - for me and others at least.
Also, when Online, you are "always connected" to Ubisoft servers in-game to support Opal gathering, daily challenges, etc. - quite intrusive actually.
Try "Offline" - to make sure all Ubisoft server links are severed.
Hello, after 80 hours of playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the game has started to crash. I can play sometimes 15-20 min and crash, sometimes it is even immediately. I noticed that after entering the skill window (the ones where you select dmg bonuses etc) the game crashes in 2 seconds. I have the latest drivers and windows updates, offline mode, disabling cloud saving and disabling the overlay didn't work either. I am also sending the logs. I have noticed that the problem is with the file AchievementsDownload.cpp. Reinstalling the game as well as the launcher did not help either.
In my opinion, something is messed up with the achievement file.
Then it's another bug, disabling the checkbox should disable the cloud saves as well.
Going strictly offline is unacceptable as a workaround. You cant earn opals nor Ubi coins used to unlock the Way of the Beserker questline for example. Or their damn 20% off coupon.
Today the game just crashed while i was obtaining one of the treasures from King Kjotve.
Right now i am raiding King Kjotves the cruel fortress and just before i could grab the last gem Eivor somehow got stuck in the snow with one foot and is now drowning it's painful to watch, knowing i will have to respawn and take out every guard around there again...
The only "solution" to this, is to save frequently - which also helps to recover from crashes. So whenever I'm in a "no save possible" area for more than a few minutes, I will leave that area just to make a save, and return. It's annoying, but better than having to replay those areas due to crashes or getting stuck.
Dont waste time with officials asking you for specs etc, game is old and they did nothing about it till now so they ask just to pretend that they care.
Sometimes you can play whole day without crash, the other day you crash 5 minute after starting the game. Just save often.
Doesnt sound like OPs case at all. Afaik theres no real fix for random crashes as its most likely due to bad game coding.
Yes - exactly the problem with playing "on-line" - Set Ubisoft launcher to "Offline"
Opals and other Ubisoft Connect things are just micro-transaction enablers. Just say no.
Everything you just listed is an example of the external network traffic that occurs while you are playing this game with Ubisoft COnnect set to Online.
A problem with any of these "external activities" can crash your game.
A problem with Ubisoft Server can crash your game.
And as far as those Opals and Ubi-coins and all those other micro-transaction enablers -
Just Say No.
Clearly, Ubisoft has a game-to-server interconnect problem that crashes AC Valhalla.
Play Offline. It's still not perfect, but it's better.
