Resetting Password
Ubisoft connect asks me to reset my password each new day that I launch the game. It does not let me play the game until I reset it. I have it linked to steam, and have played several other assassins creed games, but every day that I play this game it asks me to reset my password in the interest of safety. Is this happening to anyone else? To be clear, it is not asking me to enter my password, it just directs me to reset it.

I think I figured it out, it looks like I have 2 ubisoft accounts, one that had all of my older xbox games linked to it, and one that had all of my steam purchases linked to it. I guess I messed something up when I purchased this game through steam because this game is linked to the account that has all my xbox games and not the account that has all my PC games. I sent them a ticket to see if they could merge the accounts or move all of the games into one account.

Did you do anything in the browser to password reminder for certain sites, in Chrome you can accidentally tell it to not remember or track username and passwords for certain sites
SKBig Dec 9, 2022 @ 9:52pm
Nope it is tracking it in chrome, I am not forgetting the password it just forces me to change it every time I launch the game

Try running the client with administrator rights

If that's the solution, I should seriously consider deinstalling. This screams security risk.

Luckily, I "just" get booted out of Ubisoft Connect on closing the game and it fails to update my cloud save. And yeah I also told the client to remember my credentials on my machine.

This is so broken, it would be a barrel of laughs if it wasn't so friggin' annoying to deal with everytime.

Tried this, asked me to change my password again.

I updated Ubisoft but it did keep asking for me to type in the password. It wouldn't remember me.
Jimi Dec 10, 2022 @ 8:32am
Do you use a VPN by any chance?
lucent Dec 10, 2022 @ 8:41am
Nope, but I did update Ubisoft before getting the game. Click the box to remember me and it doesn't.
SKBig Dec 11, 2022 @ 6:17am
Log in again today to play, it is once again asking me to reset my password.
Jimi Dec 11, 2022 @ 6:32am
No VPN?

Is the date and time on your pc correct?

Humm for some reason connect must think you password are compromised... never use the same pass on any other app... ever... if presant use 2 step confirmation... use random gen. passwords so they dont have any reference to your real life data. never link your apps then they only have to hack/crack one username/password... never use your microsoft mail add to anything but you microsoft/win. account. make a cloud based mail add. like gmail or similar to use for all other stuff. then you mail will be in the cloud and cant be hold by ransomeware on your pc if unlucky/careless.... never use a link from any mail you get...no matter how sure you are its real... make it a rule not to... and get a quality av program.... im not telling you what to get... but i would not get bitdefender.... scan you devise/s full scan and a boot up scann... not so many rootkits floting around like back in the day.. but still some out there.

sadly this is more or less all commen sense rules in the world we live in.

sorry for the spelling.

Does anyone else have an issue where ubisoft connect asks them to reset their password every single time the app opens unless it's run directly as admin? It's the most annoying thing, and support has been way less than helpful on all accounts. On 2 attempts they reset my password without reading the ticket, and told me to have a nice day. Like the only reason I have the bloatware installed is because it forced itself off a game I bought on steam, and I gave them my information to create an account, so the least the app could do is open.

I would have opened a ticket directly again as an exercise in futility, but even that support page won't load.

@jeffthedruid Hey there! I'm sorry to hear Ubisoft Connect keeps requesting you reset your password. This is not working as intended. I reviewed your Support ticket and see all the troubleshooting that you've tried to remedy the issue. Can you also try emptying the cache of the launcher? Then fully quit out of the program, and relaunch. Let me know how it goes.

@ubikoreanbbq I'd like to wait a couple days to see if it stays, but that seems to have worked. Thank you very much!

Hello JefftheDruid, thank you for getting back to us.

The normal workaround for Connect not remembering your details, is to run the program in with Admin rights, but to enable this in its Properties menu, permanently, by right-clicking on the launchers .exe file and selecting its Properties menu, then editing this through its Security tab.

We also advise reinstalling Ubisoft Connect in some cases, and deleting its cache.

Another thing you can do is to set up your computer as a Trusted Device. You will need 2FA enabled to do this. This should stop you from needing to enter the details into Connect each time, once you have selected the Remember Me option >
https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/account/article/managing-your-trusted-devices/000062757

To test this, once you have set 2FA and trusted devices up >
1. Log in to Ubisoft Connect PC
2. Open menu > Log Out
3. Launch Ubisoft Connect PC client again, and enter their login e-mail in lowercase + password. Check the 'Remember Me' box.
4. Enter 2FA
5. Exit the Ubisoft Connect PC launcher and then launch it again. Confirm it auto logs in afterward.

I have this problem too. On two computers: with Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Clearly, Ubisoft connect client app does not store properly user's credentials OR it invalidates its access token on bad trigger.

Also, enabling admin privileges for client side app is a mistake.

Credentials (or rather access token) should be stored in user data without need for admin privileges, which in fact is security violation.

Please report this as a bug to fix. It is not normal behaviour.

Can you also try emptying the cache of the launcher? Then fully quit out of the program, and relaunch. Let me know how it goes.

edit:

Might as well clear your Steam's download cache also.

Just tested it, when I open the launcher it does not ask me to change my password. but when I try to open Valhalla it does not let me launch the game unless I reset my password. The message it gives me is "In the interest of safety, we ask that you reset your password in order to log in. We'll send you an e-mail with a link to create a new password." I am currently signed in on the ubisoft connect launcher, it is only when I open Valhalla that I get this message.

SkBig, must be so annoying, sorry I could not help you more. Did you check your pc date and time? Sometimes it will think you are in a different time zone if its not set properly and thus think you are suspicious. It;s weird though it only does it when launching Valhalla.. hmmm
Wilberforce Dec 12, 2022 @ 12:19pm
humm might think your launchinh from steam is a risk... try to chang you steam pass and use 2 step to boos account safty.... just a wild guess tho...
