People would complain if Assassins Creed never innovated or experimented with its story and gameplay and just rehashed the same stuff every year
People would complain if AC did innovate, experimented with its story and gameplay and took inspiration from other successful games in the industry
People just want to complain.
What I'm saying is... it has the name, it has some mechanics, it somewhat continues the story, it's still wonderfully designed. But it ain't. I haven't player The Witcher 3 (or any), but I umagine that's what it is, minus unnessessary parkur. :) The Mirage does feel like a legacy AC, this one not. And I enjoy both "lines". It's hard to imagine myself an "silent killer" on a litteral battlefield,. of monastery raid, or than I'm throwing dozens of enemies around like in Valhalla/Odissey.
EDIT> And I don't care about "innovate" part. For me AC1-2 were perfect. Just give up on all Animus stuff, and make the same games in diff places/periods. Assassins vs Templars are an awesome timeless concept, and perfectly enough by itself for 30 more games.
Just give us assassins VS templars in X historical period
Level up Ravensthorp is part of unlocking new quests and gear as it work as your HUB for quests. It does also grow with new NPCs over time when you follow instruction on building and getting material to "build" or "purchase" those building for your new NPCs that are joining your camp/settlement.
River Raid is hardcore mode as you will not be able to save during that instanced content (you will have to talk to Vagn after you have reached a certain level in Ravensthorp) and from that you will get access to load outs, so you fast can change between different builds for your character (gear, skills and ability).
Valhalla is a mixed game as have HC (River Raid), DLC like Paris where one join Rebels which in turn have its own merchant (Dinare) which work much like Reda (bounty mission) which rewards you with Dinare (currency) from doing those mission.
Reaper armour set is actually a rather good set as you avoid killing innocents when you use this set in combination with runes (sleep), bows with sleep perk or ability for putting targets to sleep (which upgraded and when there is any flame around will create a fog which put everything in sleep mode - easy assassination). Reaper armour will increase slow down time, so there is more opportunity to control your fights.
It does also look very much like a Ninja or Assassin. ;-)

Rats in Paris can be deadly, but just use walls and keep feet from ground and you should be able to avoid to take too much damage. It does help to have unlocked all skill in skill tree, so you will heal from kills, be able to use HP to get Adrenaline for active skills (melee and ranged) etc.
Game instruct to use weapon to keep them from harming PC and push them towards holes in ground, but that isn't necessary if you play PC more like an Assassin with climbing and jumping where it is possible.
Just avoid that skill that are meant to auto aim towards threat when you sneaking and detected as that skill will change your camera towards that threat, but instead will start to change camera randomly and can even make is close to impossible to aim at target which you where aiming at when this skill trigger which can be really confusing and waste your arrows.
I my opinion Paris DLC are one of the better one as you get access to that gear and with tools where you can control what to put to sleep or kill (don't need to sneak around if you don't want too for using assassination on targets).
There are pretty good gear and weapon without paying extra in Helix Store and you will over time also get Opals (currency for Reda's shop) to purchase MTX items and also get each weekly MTX item from checking in Helix Store. Got Feather Light Bow which is pretty good Bow for AoE fire damage (just be careful to not set yourself on fire from environment that are on fire).
I had my share of CTD, so I can understand when other players will get upset and start to lash out on Valhalla, but it is a good game as you can play it the way you want if you take time to figure out what gear/weapon/ability there is and combine them into your play style.
Use Raven to locate targets (from air you can mark every targets including fish with a white beam).
Didn't like the RPG elements when they first did it but now i've learned to ignore most of it.
Still get stuck on a stupid amount of objects that you should be able to climb over though.
Just started playing it again after a while so can't remember the DLCs so can't speak for them
