Steam achievements not unlocking

So, I re-donwloaded the game after completing it months ago, since i saw achievments had been added. I had trouble getting it to launch the first time, and had to cancel it because it was frozen on launch, so it may be that's where things went wrong.... but when I got into the game, I loaded up my save and.... nothing, no achievements unlocked. I know i have some, i can see them there, in the menu, but they are not transferring over to Steam. Is there some trick to get them to work?

I looked through them to try and find one that was easy to get that I didn't already have, (equip a sickle in both hands) and did it, but it didn't unlock, didn't even show up in the in game list. so somethting is wonky, but I dunno what

*edit - restarted my computer and got new achievements to unlock on the Ubisoft side of things, but still not transferring over to Steam. I also have Odyssey and it's achievements all unlocked fine, so... I dunno.
*edit 2 - verified game cache and they finally popped

Didn't work for me :(
I'm getting so pissed off with this game. Has given me nothing but trouble, nothing seems to work correctly. So frustrating.
