Is the main story a grind to complete itself? very much yes. It is nearly 200 hours long.
By the way I wanted to play Mirage before Valhalla but was warned that there's a massive spoiler for Valhalla at the end of Mirage. Maybe that won't bother you, but just though I'd give a heads up.
I am 140hrs in, have only completed 2 pledges and I'm lvl 77 on Nightmare.
I have won battles, raids and quests lvl 200+
If you don't like Vikings or Anglo Saxon England then you will grow tired of this game.
The game is a marathon, if you try and sprint it, you'll burn out before you reach the end.
A lot of my playtime involves Fishing, hunting, building my settlement, relic hunting, scouting, being a thief, exploring, river raids, open world raids and doing mysteries which are basically side quests.
I haven't had to grind for anything yet... needing raw materials from Raids has been my only real need but quite a few I had to retreat as the Saxons were too heavily defended.
Its addictive as hell
FISHING!!? .....cool !!
yeah i heard mirage is a prequel to valhalla and in the same era-ish
