WONT START - Tried everything - Valhalla + Ragnarok DLC
Hi there
Just bought AC Valhalla with the Ragnarok DLC included. Press 'Play', it changes to 'Stop' as it always does when launching, then about 4-5 seconds later back to 'Play' and doesnt launch

I have tried all the workarounds I can see. Have deleted/reinstalled. Have tried opening Ubisoft thing first (it won't link inside Ubisoft.. stupid). Have run Steam and Valhallla as administrator. Yes, have restarted etc.

One thing I notice is that it opens multiple occurrences of Steam Client Webhelper in the task manager, many of which are actively doing something as they are using memory.

Help anyone please?

I'm having the same issue. I bought Vahalla yesterday and installed it today. The game looks like it is about to start but after 5 seconds, STEAM shows the play button again and nothing loads. The game is not showing in my Ubisoft library. Tried restarting, reinstalling, updating and verifying everything. STEAM and Ubisoft are already linked.

I tried searching for a fix but nothing worked. One video said it has to be installed on C Drive. I haven't tried this as given the massive GB size of the game, it would be a major hassle.

Anyone had similar issues and found a fix?
I just now for a test decided to download valhalla without dlc, just the vanilla version, it worked just as well

You can try this...

I got the same problem, also tested all workarounds. The game is installed on C drive in vanilla version, did not help for me..

How do you specify just to download or run Vanilla only?

It is working for me now. After spending hours troubleshooting without success, I simply clicked play the next day and it started. Good luck everyone!
I was trying to find a fix for this for days, and it was doing this same issue with multiple different ac titles as well, I tried running it all those things that you tried...but strangely enough, what worked for me was to make sure that ubisoft connect is completely closed, like if you see it on your task bar under background running programs right click it and select "quit"
For some reason doing this seems to "refresh" it when you attempt to launch the game, it should open ubisoft while doing this(may or may not ask you to relog into it, if it does, may or may not require a full on restart on your computer), therefore, linking your game to it. It's weird, but it seemed to work every time I used this method for everything I was previously having issues with.

Had the same issue with The Witcher 3. Format C was the only solution that worked for me.

You just need to restart your PC. Ubisoft Connect can not register your new game key if you already started any Ubisoft game. I know it sounds crazy but its like that everytime for me.

I'm glad that worked for you. As mentioned, I tried restarting my PC (several times) and this did not resolve the issue.
