The story is quite cool though and that would drove me to finish. that ragnarok DLC is really cool although at that point just throw the Assassin's Creed title out the window.
I like the gameplay better now, the combat of the first ones always seemed rheumatic to me.
If you liked Odyssey, you'll like this one.
It is divided between those who like Odyssey and this one more.
I like the protagonist and the skills more about Odyssey, but the rest, story, etc., this one seems better and more fun to me. I love castle sieges, very entertaining.
I just didn't like the RPG approach they took to the newer games. It goes against the design philosophy of the original AC games and the franchise as a whole. I feel like they could've just done away with the "Assassin's Creed" title and made a new IP with the systems made.
if origins and the new style ain't your thing (which i am totally on your side of, they aren't even assassins anymore)
the witcher 3 had big success and then surprise surprise, the next AC that comes out is just the witcher 3 but a terrible version of it and a grind fest
don't buy it
In my humble opinion Witcher 3 is an bad to mediocre game with an amazing story and characters and interesting world
the new AC games have interesting skill trees, good to great stories, good characters and the worlds are somewhat interesting.
I'd say on an average AC games are better then Witcher 3, which has a lot of bad but has some really stand out things.
said nobody ever
I said it so that would be wrong objectively speaking.
I think 1 and 2 were the best where you followed a story and were assassinating bad players along the way. In 3 it started to go downhill. 4 was an amazing game, but this is where AC started to falter. It was the best non pirate pirate game I've ever played. But it was not the best AC game I've ever played. After 4, it turned into more RPG fest and less AC themed game. Sure it has the wrappings of AC, but the core AC themes are long gone.
Valhalla is actually fairly boring to me. I cannot relate to any of the characters. I hate my own character and pretty much every character in the game. They are all cringe inducing, the writing is horrible, the quests are bland and there is way too much collect-a-thon nonsense going on. I also cannot abide Vikings taking over England so I'm not even rooting for my own clan to be successful. If I had the option, I'd join the other side b/c I do not side with what the Vikings are doing in the game.
This may be my last foray into AC for quite some time. They lost the narrative and the train has left the tracks. Get better writers. Study some history. Give us those time periods AS THEY WERE not as we would see them today. Or you know, just make a pirate game like you wanted to with 4. A true pirate game. Not S&B nonsense. A single player pirate game. And don't try to sell me 5 outfits for some stupid in-game currency or a different colored parrot.
As for Ubi, they better right the ship before it sinks. For right now I'd rather abandon ship and take my chances with the sharks than stay aboard.
