Why does Valhalla run fine for me but Dawn of Ragnarok stutters?

It's weird.

On my PC the regular Valhalla base game runs just fine. No stutters, nothing. Works great.

But for some reason the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion will stutter. Granted, I haven't played much of DoR. I only got to the point where you fight the very first boss in that room with lava in it. Is DoR a case where it builds shaders for the first hour or so while playing but after that it stops stuttering? If so, why is DoR like this but Valhalla runs stutter-free right from the start?
