But now most people wouldn't actually finish the game, so they became frustrated because what's the point in playing a game you know you won't complete?
I love the game, it's easily the best AC for me. I love the time period, the history and the game itself. Unfortunately people could not see past the RPG elements (which are limited anyway) or the massive story (which is a BONUS for me...) and wrote it off before playing. I glanced at the steam reviews just now (I play on Ubi launcher) and there were reviews from people with 1-2 hours. The game needs at least 15+ hours to settle, maybe that's a downside for some people but it's brilliant for me.
Either way, I don't bash people for not liking it, unless they haven't played it that is. But I do wonder how people can complain that a game has "too much" content, is that even possible?
I enjoy the game, but I also feel I need to take long breaks from it from time to time.
Think of the original Super Mario Brothers, a brilliant game. But instead of it featuring 32 levels, it had like 180 levels that all had similar layout, but had maybe different backgrounds or different colored tiles. I feel it's a little like that.
Basically it all comes down to the core gameplay not being interesting or fun enough to warrant it being that long for those people.
It can get repetitive but only if you make it so, you can mix and match things to do. Eg do a raid, then go do that side quest, then go do the main story quest, another raid, DLC quest etc. That's how I did it at least. It does unstructure the game a little however
Personally, I think Valhalla is one of the worst in the AC franchise. If you like it, good for you. Don't let my dislike of the game bring you down dude.
You say "Seriously, gamers have weird complaints nowadays..." They don't. The just have different complaints... and a lot of them are valid,,, from their point of view.
What I find interesting is when people fall in love with a game or franchise and take their devotion to a religious level.
Preacher (gamer), standing at a pulpit, holding aloft a copy of AC Valhalla: "Do you not love and worship Assassin's Creed Valhalla as the best in the franchise"
Me: "No... It's crap!"
Preacher: "Then you will spend eternity burning in the flaming pits of hell... but if you repent and... "
Me: "Dude, you're a complete nutter. Now get lost."
I'm fine. How are you?
Er!!! When did I mention that everyone must like it?
I think your view that 90% of people who complain have never played the game is a false assumption on your part, and is a reaction to some people disliking a game that you enjoy.
The whole point is.. if some one hates a game that you love, they are NOT attacking you personally, The OP shouldn't worry about how much hate Valhalla gets, He/she/they should just enjoy playing a game they love.
You were referencing people liking the game as preachers... That indicates to me you think we think that everyone must like the game. We don't.
And my view is actually correct, the vast majority of people who complain about Valhalla have not played/completed it. They have just taken the view of popular youtube videos and used it as their own opinion, this is the same for the vast majority of popular games, Valhalla is no exception.
The point of the post is that Valhalla gets a disproportionate amount of hate for things which aren't even bad (for example loads of content such as side quests etc is now seen as bad?).
You say "the vast majority of people who complain about Valhalla have not played/completed it. They have just taken the view of popular youtube videos"
This piqued my curiosity. Videos expressing a negative critique of AC Valhalla are "popular" on YouTube... Interesting.
(A little while later) Having just spent some time on YouTube most of the videos gave Valhalla favourable reviews, scoring it, in my opinion, between 5/10 and 8/10. Not too shabby.
You also said "Valhalla gets a disproportionate amount of hate for things which aren't even bad" Again, these are things that aren't bad... in your view.
Other people may have views that differ from yours.
The OP, Workshed asked "Why does this game get so much hate?" and my answer to him is "Don't worry about the hate, or the haters. Ignore them and their opinions. They ain't gonna go away. You'll powerless to stop them commenting and you'll never convert them, so don't even try. The good news is there are very few of them around.
That said, problems may occur when you love the game so much that it becomes a polarised issue for you. You score it 10/10. It's your favorite game of all time.
If some one comes along and scores it 8/10, they clearly don't love the game with the same passion and devotion as you, so, they clearly hate the game. What about someone who scores the game 6/10 or 4/10. How do those scores that make you feel?
Remember, these aren't haters. These are other gamers giving their honest critique.

I think it's a fair review of Valhalla raising some interesting points, both good and bad. What do you guys think. The comments section made for some great reading with most expressing their views while keeping the mood cordial. Exactly how it should be.
So. I'll sign off with a quote from an ancient Greek philosopher:
“It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” ~ Aristotle (384-322 B.C.)
Also, vikings didn't really sneak...
Most of us skip what we don't like, some don't even give a lot of side things in games a try. We're just not so troubled that we have to shout about it.
