I have been having the same issue for about a month, came back and they updated the Steam client. the game started the controller inputs had all been reversed to Microsoft controller inputs. then the game crashed, now the game wont start. I have reinstalled, verified files, updated drivers, tried to start from UBISOFT Connect, unplugged the playstation controller, tried just on PC, nothing. After all this when you shut down the game it still says it is running in Steam..there is definitely an issue with the steam launcher and Ubisoft connect, they are not talking to each other.
For a game that has been out so long on console it is rubbish the steam and PC translation is so bad.
Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing crashes.
Can you please confirm if you performed all of the steps I provided in this thread?
If so, could you please contact our team on our {LINK REMOVED} Support Site?

The only rub points now are that if i use rumble on my PS4 controller the game just lags my controller out...i just stand there and do nothing...i removed rumble and it seems to work ok again. Secondly, the PS4 prompts on screen are back to Xbox prompts....i don't know why however this just grinds my gears.
For a 100hr's plus everything worked fine, now i have to have a cheat sheet to figure out what buttons to press... i have tried the steam client to set up the controller.....Soooooo many options.
Did it just randomly start working again? If you go to the game menu, controls, somewhere near the bottom is a bit that allows Xbox or PlayStation button prompts
I don't think it will launch anytime soon when the acvalhalla.exe quits itself after 10 seconds doing nothing.
Hello stewiegriffin200,

It is the same with Valhalla for me, the start banner of the games pops up and than it takes 4-6 minutes that the screen turns black and the game finally begins to run.
And it‘s been months that the AC games start this slow now… but I thought I was the only one having problems with the reeeeally slow start of ubisoft games…
