Yeah, but sorry. I really wanted to play this game, but the poor audio makes it very hard for me to be immersed in this. I will be back if they ever make an audio patch. But I severely doubt that they ever will make such an effort.

For the rest of you, I hope you have a great time with the game!

Must be a problem with your hardware. I played the game on ubisoft launcher and never had any audio problems.

I can assure you that my hardware is in good condition. Besides I have already seen confirmation that the reason for the bad audio is the ridiculous amounts of compression on the audio.

Because you have a bad ear and I do not? I do not think it is presumptuous of me to have crisp sound in the games I am playing. Especially not when all of the other games I have played have had good sound. Besides, like I mentioned in my earlier post I have seen confirmation of bad audio compression.

I remember when the game released some ppl complained about audio issues, but it didnt affect everyone. I don`t play with headphones so maybe that`s the thing. But that issue took place when the game released 2020.

And it still remains. Ubisoft never did anything about it and even stated: "After thorough investigation, the development team will not be able to resolve these audio issues. Resolution of this issue would require an overhaul of the entire audio system from the ground up and is not feasible. We recommend enabling subtitles to aid comprehension of dialogue."

The audio is stored at a 24,000 Hz sample rate, with a variable bitrate that peaks around 70 kbps. This is extremely bad. It is worse than CD quality.

I can only tell you from my experience, that i played 386 hours (ubisoft launcher) and i have never noticed it. Maybe i have bad ears or your ears are more sensitiv. Hope they find a fix for you, so you can play it as well.

I do as well. If they ever DO fix it, I will probably buy it again.

Posting here is very obvious that you will be attacked by a mass of rabid Ubisoft fans. Any mention that something is wrong or should/could be done better results in instantly being attacked.

Sorry OP, sounds like you might have had some annoying issues but the fanboy attack squad will not make these discussion forums helpful at all.

I do not mind.

I was really hoping for some sort of fix that I could apply on my end. But after some extensive googling I came up with nothing of the sort. Just an explanation for the problem. Like I have stated earlier, if it ever does get fixed, I will probably buy it again.

yeah the audio has been super compressed ever since launch. Odyssey was like that, but only for the footsteps. Then ubi decided to go all out when compressing valhalla
Kruzil Dec 6, 2022 @ 10:56pm
I agree with the OP, the compressed audio and sound design choices for this game ruined it for me as well.

70kbps? what the hell. This is very strange. Even mp3's back in the 90's were 128kbps, we'd rip em at 384 so they stayed sweet, but 70 is insane, that's 1992 Real Audio dialup streaming stuff. What why HOW was this a thing lol.

Yeah, I am baffled as well. It is worse than CD quality. I saw online that it is more or less the equivalent to watching a video in 240p. That is outrageous for a game released in 2020 in my humble opinion.
Thai-Hunter55 Dec 6, 2022 @ 11:34pm
Yeah I can't play the game either. The audio quality is hilariously bad.
